^Not sure about that, I haven't bought a Tekken since Tekken 3, TTT2 is going to get a purchase as it isn't connected to the canon so none of that dropping characters because the character died or the character went home to become a family man or the developers wanted a female character first (see Eddy Gordo)... It clashes with what I expect from anime games, to cover more, to include more as time goes on.

Also, Nintendo costumes and cameos... >_>

If Captain Falcon was a costume for someone at least and if Heihachi was still Daisuki Gouri...

On sales...

Here is how they are up against other big fighting games and admittedly ignoring the competition (other big games, PS3, 360 or otherwise, circumstances which may have damaged sales in general) as there is only so much free time.

All first week, Japanese sales.

Persona 4: Arena [PS3] – 128,485
Tekken 6 [PS3] – 103,105
Street Fighter IV [PS3] – 86,075
Super Street Fighter IV [PS3] – 80,882
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 [PS3] - 62,630
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift [PS3] – 49,871
Street Fighter IV [360] – 37,782
BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger [PS3] – 33,768
Super Street Fighter IV [360] – 28,454
BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger [360] – 24,812
Tekken 6 [360] – 23,261
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift [360] – 16,184
Persona 4: Arena [360] – 9,801

It's a pretty strong performance (1st place is 1st place I know), doesn't stand up against Tekken 6 (I assume the main series does better based on this). Seems the Xbox 360 owners didn't buy enough for the sales to get charted against this competition (5110 being the lowest competition this week charted).
