I may pick this up, even if it is more moe than the original series. I enjoyed the anime quite a bit, though I haven't read the main manga (which I will admit is in part to the subpar art I saw in the first volume). I still hope that they can remake the original series to cover the manga in completion (when it broke off from the manga I really felt that the quality of the story dropped). I mean not too soon, but after the manga has finished it's run it would be nice.

At first I was only reading Not because it explained more about Soul Eater's world, but I found it really enjoyable on its own. The two are so different that at times they feel like completely separate titles, and I really like that. Ohkubo is doing something different and not just showing us the same story from a different angle. More importantly though, Soul Eater Not manages to do what any decent spinoff should do, but many can't: it can stand on its own. People who aren't familiar with the original can enjoy it almost as much as someone who is.

I remember reading this and I think I'll buy the volumes (I am buying soul eaters after all) this is fairly enjoyable and I also can't wait to see where it goes. Light, fun and a=some action here and there, for me thats a no brainer,

on the topic of Ohkubo's art this volume pretty much shows how soul eater looks now as far as current chapters go, and I do very much agree I like this style alot more than the begining(I do hope we get lucky enough at some point that we can get his art book localized here because as far as covers though they're pretty good and stylish all throughout.) but it'll be nice when the volumes get caught up to at least the part the manga segated from because I think there is where the changes become the most noticable (not to mention one particular segment is in a completely diffrent style on its own...ku, ku, ku...)
