I'm sure the Bleach fans will be happy, but yoza that must be hard on the wallet. (And I'm sure there will be one person in the thread finding something to complain about.)

I got into One Piece after the massive speed-up, and while I have all the volumes now, I wasn't there buying them all during the catch-up, bet it's a bit painful for the fans.

I wonder what the sudden rush is. They ink a deal for simultaneous release of #56 or something?

My guess is that Viz wants to strike while the pans still hot. You have the TV series currently airing on Toonami and the manga in it's apparent final story arc in Japan.

Now that the anime has stopped airing in Japan they would also see a potential decline of interest for the franchise within the next few years. So it makes sense to get them out asap.

If Viz holds the license for the latter Pokemon Adventures manga series, then I hope they release them next!

The rush is they were more than 10 volumes behind, and with SJ Alpha having the latest chapters, there's a humongous gap in material that hasn't been released in English (legally) yet.

I've been waiting for this for years, so I'm glad this is finally happening. It's a series that reads much better in bigger chunks, I think. People may hate on it, but Bleach is still one of my favorites.

The decline in interest has already started. Kubo can't figure out how to make people give a damn about his story and Bleach is suffering for it.

understandable, the series is losing steam now that its in its final arc, better to get things out as close to the Japanese releases as possible while fans are still interested, cause if they're still running almost 3 years behind on releases when it ends the last few volumes will really slump and disappoint

so good move i guess on Viz's part, even if it does kinda lead to a flood of volumes, although i suppose its better to do it in the final 6 months in the run-up to xmas than in the first 6 months

if he wants people to start caring again all he needs to do is make Ichigo kiss someone/get kissed, that will get back at the very least some fans and generate alot of talk about whoever it was and all the 'why wasn't it X, why was it Y' kinda talk, then he can abandon it until the end of the series, Kishimoto seemed to get away with it when he had Hinata confess so i see no reason why Kubo can't pull the same stunt

Nice to see, just wish I really still had a lot of interest in Bleach at this point. I dropped following the anime after the Soul Society arc and never got back to it. Lately, I've been having a hard time even caring about where the current US release of the manga is.

I do find if I let several volumes build up before I get to them Bleach does seem more interesting. a single volume just reads so fast.

Bleach's problems run much deeper. Your idea would spark interest and people would take a look, but once they see that it's still of the same quality it's been for years most of them will just leave again.

Here's the problem with Bleach.
You care more for every other character more than Ichigo.
You want to see Kenpachi, Byakuya, Renji, Rukia, etc. But you never want to see Ichigo, Orihime, Chad, or Ishida. And they're technically the main characters.

I really wish they had done this like 2 years ago. I dropped the series out of sheer boredom months ago since it was coming out so slowly with not enough happening per volume.
