I think it was a bit of sarcasm, at least I hope so.

As for a tag-team double feature from Ghibli's best, I can only say: My body is not prepared!

So they're actually letting Takahata direct again, or are they just using him as a fail-safe if Miyazaki doesn't make his deadline?

Well Feature length 2d animated films have sort of stagnated.

From what that article was implying, it might even be 2014.

I'll say this - no matter when it comes out, or what it is, I will always watch Studio Ghibli. Though I definitely have my favorites (and they don't always match the general populace's opinion) I have yet to actually go *wrong* with a Ghibli production. I'd rather they take the time they need to release something to their standards then rush something just to make a 'film-per-year' deadline. I can be patient. I have a whole collection to rewatch and I'm looking forward to adding Arietty soon.
