Eh, the problem with these list is they're only there because of the current TV show. Before the TV show it doesn't sell well, then they get an influx of casuals buying it once the movie/show hits (see also Watchmen, Scott Pilgrim, and Kick-Ass) Not sure why since the comics are nothing like the show from what I've seen of the show.

Ironically enough, despite Marvel/DC movies being much bigger, their comics never get those kinds of sale boosts.

Probably because nobody is sure which book to buy when there are multiple Spider-Man or Batman books on the go at once. It's a bit dizzying. I mean, I like western comics but I've never really followed many of the big names myself, the backstory is too off putting I have followed ones with less backstory though because I find them more accessible and easier to follow, like Marvel's Runaways and Spider-Girl.

I've read a load of The Walking Dead Trade Paper Backs as well, again no massive backstory so it's easier to get into. I need to get back to I stopped reading after spoiler[Lori and her baby die in the Governer's siege of the prison] as I was shocked and a bit upset by it but I only ever meant it be a temporary stop.

Gracie you're in luck. The second compendium comes out sometime this fall and collects the next 48 issues. I figure it'll go for around 30 bucks.

what gives you that idea? i've been watching the ny times graphic novel best seller's list a lot for the past two years or so, and the walking dead and scott pilgrim were always selling like crazy--that's part of the reason they ended up getting licensing deals for tv and movies in the first place..

obviously, yeah, they got an even bigger boost from the mainstream media version, but walking dead was MASSIVELY popular and has been for years since way before the show..

Kinda like how anime boost sales of previously little known manga or light novels like K-On! Laughing

There are other fandoms we are usually not familiar with and not realize how massive they are, especially when we usually spend most of our time in just our own fandom.
