Sorry Gia, but I'm going to have to go with the guy that was able to master software programming just by 'typing' over and over on his cardboard keyboard. None other than the Golden Boy, Kintaro Oe.
I also think Reinhard von Lohengramm would prove to be an excellent head of a corporate empire given his success in a galactic one. |

I don't see how Luffy could run a successful business, unless the board of directors just locked him up somewhere and kept him around as a figurehead. He may be a likeable person, but he's dumb as a rock, and he's way too easily fooled. Business rivals would have him believing whatever they wanted, and in the business world it's not considered polite to punch your rivals and destroy their buildings. Plus the food budget alone would be enough to bankrupt them.
If any one of the Straw Hats would succeed in business, I'd think it would be Nami. She's great at haggling, she's not above doing some shady things to get her way, and she seems to be the most fiscally responsible of the bunch. |

Fraulein Mariendorf would definitely have been an excellent choice as well. EDIT: Sailor, I wouldn't say that Luffy is dumb. He's just very simple-minded. He has shown a keen sense of observation and has even displayed formidable strategical sense at times as well. Though I agree he wouldn't be the Straw Hat most likely to succeed at business. |

Good list, but I'm a little disappointed that there aren't more female characters on it. Only one of eight, really?
Some shrewd businesswomen would be Shuurei from Story of Saiunkoku, Holo from Spice and Wolf, Nabiki Tendou from Ranma 1/2, and Nanami Jinnai from El-Hazard. |

Rei Tachibana from Paniponi could have appeared on the 'most-likely to succeed in business list. She did manage to turn a nice profit on a run-of-the-mill event at a school festival after all.

I've only watched the first season, but Holo still actually does businessy things.

The first person that came to mind before reading the list was Nabiki from Ranma 1/2. She really knows how to get her way! I'd also say Ling-Ling from 3x3 Eyes, but then I remembered she actually IS a business woman The one I was really surprised not to see tho is Akira Takizawa of Eden of the East. Talk about charisma, and he has the intelligence to go with it.

Pfft! If doujinshi is included, the obvious business answer would be.......... Steve Jobs!

The survey got me wondering about the various ways anime has been available. Of course, there used to be videotapes. Some may also remember laser disc. I know American cartoons have been available on film -- 8mm for the general public, 16mm for institutions like libraries and schools. Did anyone every try selling anime on film like this? (I'm not considering releases to theaters, which are typically rented.)
