Ohhh, this new article series should be interesting and fun.

Quote:
If, Then, Or is a new biweekly column devoted to recommending anime titles— but with a bit of a twist. TEvery other Tuesday, I'll take a particular show and break it down into two major aspects, usually relating to genre, art style, characters, or themes...

Tiny little typo in the 2nd sentence BTW.

Great choice for recommendations. I was thinking what would be good recommendations to give if people if they liked Tiger & Bunny.

The series is over twenty years old and has had various releases in Japana and the U.S.

I don't think 1994 was over 20 years ago. Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop

Nice to see You're Under Arrest get a recommendation. With Animeigo's license-exipiration of the first and definitely best classic series, it needs and deserves the recognition it can get.

For Tiger and Bunny, I would've recommended Karas from Manga Entertainment, granted it's from the same director and has much of the same art style, and it's a title that's mind-blowing in its own way.

I like this new column. I'v been meaning to check out You're Under Arrest for a long time. I really need to see if I can find all of its parts and try to buy them. I just don't want to get to a certain point and then not be able to find it any where.

What a great idea for a new column on ANN!

One of the most daunting tasks, especially for new fans of anime (or manga), is getting a decent recommendation, or at the very least a point in the right direction, or where to look for one.

Recommendations, I think, are also important for older fans of anime. I can't tell you how many shows or series I've missed over the years and come back to. Let's face it, not everyone has unlimited time to watch everything that gets released in a season (and not everything is a mega-hit like FMA, or the like, which even years after their initial release are still popular and fresh on people's lips).

It's also nice, as an added bonus, that older series you may not have seen are a great way to fill time between the new releases and seasons.

A good column and good recommendations.

This is definitely a better idea than the top eight whatevers column. With T&B being one of the few "easy to recommend to everyone" titles to come out in too long, I'm curious to see what the next title'll be.

Well it isn't replacing that column, which is doing very well and so far has proven to be very popular!

This is a neat idea for a column. This particular edition isn't very relevant to me, but I have hopes that it might provide some useful suggestions in the future.

I want to say I love this new column.
Seriously, I think it's a really cool idea. I'm not impressed with the contents for the first edition, Tiger & Bunny is exactly opposite of everything I like in anime, but I'll be looking forward to the next one. Just one question, I noticed both recommendations are older shows. Was that on purpose or coincidental? Either way is fine by me, but I thought it unusual.

Oh so very true, for those who want a trailer of the Big O try this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK_HTdn3NPE&feature=related

The original long promo toonami trailer is what sold me to watch this series!
Also btw, the second season of The Big O is streaming on adultswim's website.

I like this column! From the number of request threads in various forums here, it's a feature that needed to happen a long time ago.

I've seen some of The Big O and You're Under Arrest, but none of Tiger and Bunny. I might have to rectify that sometime soon.

Drat, I'm really interested in this article but my main computer (well, only computer) is a netbook with a 1024x600-sized screen, and the side bar is over the article text which makes it pretty unreadable. Basically the only part of the article I can read is the side with You're Under Arrest. I know my netbook's screen is ridiculously small so I don't really expect everything to work well on it, but it was still pretty disappointing. Maybe I'll borrow my brother's computer to read the article or something?
