I've got to say, looks like this time this movie will actually be made if they are seriously considering actors.

No telling if it will be a quality production at this time, but if anything, there is more of a chance of this movie actually being created.

Oh yeah, he'll fit that role quite nicely. (NSFW content).

Sunday Silence: This one is better. Cool

And remember when they said Spike Lee would eff it up because of his personal politics? Well, Bale's a lot better pick for this gig than Nick Cage, so any other complaints?

I think that joke's gotten tired now. Bale even zinged himself about it during his acceptance speech for the Supporting Actor Oscar for The Fighter, so I think it's time to move on. And as that movie and others have shown, he is a great actor and definitely could work here.

This could work. Christian Bale always seems to dedicate himself 100% to any role he takes, so at least we know the lead actor would be serious about it.

I got tired of hearing about it five minutes after it happened. The rant itself isn't even that funny, it's just a guy yelling incoherently.

Old Boy, that's just good cinema right there. The whole Vengeance Trilogy is pretty fab.

Nick Cage... Outside of Raising Arizona (his finest film), the man shouldn't act. Ever. Oh, so bad. So bad! Christian Bale is an infinitely better choice. In fact, I'd prefer him for the lead role and not the villain, but that leads us to Spike Lee's involvement.

The only other thing that worries me is how much his personal politics are going to affect this hollywood remake. I have no problem with race or the racial politics in his films (well, at least not in the good ones with Denzel--hell, I love me some Denzel!), but Old Boy isn't about race, at all. And if Bale is in line to play the villain, I'd bet your life on it that the lead, well, it might actually be Denzel (but he's gettin' kinda too old).

Honestly I wish Hollywood would stop being lazy and invest in some original ideas rather than simply doing remakes of popular foreign titles (*cough* Girl with the Dragon Tattoo *cough*).

AHEM, most people would agree that his performance in Kick-*** was solid stuff.

Sounds interesting. If they're adapting the manga does that mean they wont have the spoiler[incest angle]? That's the only thing I didn't really like about the film.

EDIT: Rereading the article, it guess like *this* attempt at an adaptation IS a remake of the film rather than the manga. Maybe they'll still take that part out.
