Really sucks that they aren't releasing it on the Wii or the regular DS. D: I really want to play this game!

Yeah, they wanted to take full advantage of HD which the Wii does not have compared to the PS3 and 360. But can't you play 3DS on a regular DS? I really don't know I only got a second hand DS last year as a gift and have no real intentions to buy a 3DS. |

Sadly, 3DS games cannot be played on the original DS. However, it does work the other way around.
I'm really looking forward to Sonic Generations. |

So, it's official. The first footage of Seaside Hill from Sonic Heroes and Rooftop Run from Sonic Unleashed has surfaced. New footage of Chemical Plant Zone from Sonic The Hedgehog 2 can also be seen in that trailer. So, that's five levels revealed so far (the other two being City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2 and Green Hill Zone from Sonic The Hedgehog), plus the Casino Night Zone from Sonic The Hedgehog 2 based mini-game DLC.
Just as a heads-up for people not in the know, the Nintendo 3DS version and the home console versions will be completely different games. With the exception of the Green Hill Zone, all of the other levels will be different from each other. Currently, the known stages for the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations, excluding the Green Hill Zone, consists of Casino Night Zone from Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Mushroom Hill Zone from Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic Heroes like Special Stages. Also, Yuki_Kun45, what sailorneorune said is correct. In addition to the Nintendo 3DS games being designed exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS hardware, the Nintendo 3DS game card design is also different from the Nintendo DS game cards, which keep Nintendo 3DS game cards from being inserted into a Nintendo DS series system. |

Haha, this game looks kinda fun! Has that Dreamcast-era spirit of innocent adventure, while reviving that nostalgic classic Sonic flare. I'll be keeping a tab on this for sure.

Apparently, a Wii version was considered, but it was dropped when the Wii U was announced. Instead, SEGA wants to put Sonic on the Wii U. Not necessarily Sonic Generations, but something.
Right now, there's a bunch of controversy over the 3DS version, because Classic Sonic's stages are identical in structure to the 2-D games they were based on. The Green Hill demo over at that expo in the UK is copied and pasted from 16-bit Green Hill Act 1, and screenshots of Mushroom Hill have been shown to be parts of Sonic & Knuckles Mushroom Hill Act 2. Still, there's no better way to test if your physics are just like the original's. Me, I've been stoked about Sonic Generations for a while now. I'm just a bit dismayed that they choose to release the 360/PS3 version at about the same time as Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (didn't get the original because I knew this version would pop up sooner or later) and the 3DS version at about the same time as Super Mario 3D Land. |

Sonic Generations was always intended to be an HD only endeavor. There was NEVER any plans for a Wii version. When Wii U was annouced two months ago, Sonic Generations was already nearly finished. There is a speculated 4th platformer that will get the game excluding the PC, its is very likely SEGA's new game tablet "KIDS PAD".(please stop ignoring this and look it up. The trademark is real.)
SEGA has only a few expermental Wii U titles that are currently very early in development, they are Qoute: "Prototypes". They are considering another Sonic storybook game but the project hasn't even gone underway yet since SEGA has no idea when Wii U will ship. SEGA is on the verge of abandoning all publication of 3rd party multiplatform IPs in 2012. Thier "SEGA Corporation" brand name filed in 2000 renewed in 2005 is expiring and has not been renewed. Instead in late 2009 ,SEGA has reregistered and renewed its old "SEGA Enterprises" brand name for selling IPs, overaseas arcade machines and home consumer products. Effective March 31,2012, "SEGA Corporation" will exist no more. The timing conicides with the new game tablet's trademarking and will coincide with the trademarking of a 3rd RING board "RINGWAVE". Which could in fact have a console to go with it. SEGASammy is in talks with having its future 3rd party IPs be published by someone else, which explains the deal to publish and license all EA material in Japan. Oh and a quick tip. Gamescom is reporting that a PS Vita version of Sonic Generations is in the works. This report is false, Sonic 4 Episode 2 will instead be a PS Vita launch title and has been cancelled for PSN release due to the breach. |
