@Daimao Raki
True; it crossed the line twice and became hilarious.
Anyway, I'm happy that Sentai is "interested in all anime" because of the who Higurashi Kai fiasco (which I'm still hoping for). Clannad BD is awesome, ef license is intriguing, and... yeah. Too bad his offer of dubbing Dirty Pair was declined, but oh well. That's Nozomi for you. (Not that I'm upset over it, since I don't have much of an interest in the series...)

Grr...I thought they had a specific date for the rest of Golgo tv. Dammit, there's a part of me that makes me wonder if maybe the Japanese are holding out because they're worried the second half will have content which might offend us Yanks. A shame about GinTama, though, as I thought at least the anime was doing better than the manga. As for declining the dubbing of Dirty Pair TV, I don't blame Right Stuf. If it took this long to get a U.S. release, and even ADV couldn't bring it over, it was no doubt expensive. And putting in a dub would add to the costs. But I could imagine RS agreeing to it on a later release.

Umm, ADV Films was in existance for 17 years not 18. Wouldn't David meant to say "Like watching your child grow to be 17 years old and then get croaked?"
Anyway, I'm still holding out hope that Section23 brings Sumomomo Momomo,Kamen No Maid Guy,Kemeko DX,Hyakko,Tonagura and Akihori Gendou Hour Rabuge to the states.

Quote: | Sentai would like to release the second part of Glass Mask, but the first part didn't perform as well as the company hoped. They're trying to figure out a way to feasibly release the second half but they haven't come up with anything yet. |
This gives me some hope that they will eventually release the last half of Glass Mask then. To me, the best episodes happen in the second half of the show, and to not have that half when I have the first is very depressing. Hopefully they can come up with something.

Sentai reps had already previously stated that the materials were held up because of the quake. I'm guessing they didn't finalize the contract for the second half of the series until after the first had been released. After all, it was the first 50+ episode series they've dubbed, I can understand them being cautious on it.
I have to say that I'm glad they're willing to look at older series, even if it does mean they will be sub only. I especially love when David said "old school does not start at 2008! LOL![/b]

Am I the only one reading this? So, what does this mean, Do they want to license more of the show or are they planning to go back and dub the first season?

To Love Ru is getting a complete collection in September. This is probably what he was referring to.

Maybe they will license more later? They didn't really say it was completely dead, just that they didn't have any more on the schedule. I think I remember the original deal was only for the first 50 eppies....

Sentai Filmworks is interested in "all anime that's out there," so any anime the audience can think of that isn't already spoken for, they have probably looked at, but can't comment on currently. |
So this either means:
"let us know what you want. If enough of you write letters we will try to get it"
or:
"We know already. so don't ask"

Yeah, that was certainly something surpring to see pop up on the live feed... And it definitely needed to be said, since there seem to be so many people who apparently can't have long-term memory that goes beyond two years when it comes to anime.
At least when it comes to Sentai it looks like sub-only is actually a very effective release method for certain shows. Sentai streaming Ro-Kyu-Bu, a basketball anime, probably wouldn't be happening if shows like Eyeshield 21 and Taisho Baseball Girls completely bombed in their sub-only releases. And if Ghost Sweeper Mikami can apparently sell well enough to make it worth doing more anime from that time, let's call it "pre-2000", then I think sub-only looks to be pretty effective.
That's not to say that it should be the main focus, of course. But if Glass Mask looks to be Sentai's only real "bomb", and even then they want to try to get the rest of it out some way, then it looks like Sentai may have mastered the idea of sub-only releases.

LordGeo, Umm Taisho Baseball Girls didn't BOMB!It actually did quite well in regaurds to baseball anime unlike Big Windup which flopped so bad, that Funimation pulled it off the market. Last I checked its still in print and Sentai prints are still being sold.

Quote: | November - Clannad first season on Blu-ray |
dammit, i hate when the blu-ray comes out way after the dvd. i'm trying to avoid dvds more and more, and i have an ever growing list of series on dvd that i'm holding out on waiting for an eventual blu-ray release. but on the other hand, they may never get a blu-ray release and all the waiting will be for naught.
ah well, would anyone be interested in a used dvd copy of clannad come november?

Why not just license The Familiar of Zero Season 2 & 3, Nagasarete Airantou, and To Love-Ru OVAs?
