Either Kyoani is just short on cash, or they just don't want to bother with animating/publishing them anymore. At least one of last year's honorable mentions is actually getting published.

Not much of a contest, is it?

I'm not surprised, after all KYOANI keeps making trashy Moeblob shows, so it kinda makes sense not to give any prize to them, maybe on animation. Then again there are a lot of great studios that make better animations than KyoAni.

The rejected entries were probably too original for consideration. Can't have that.

Nice one Kyoani! Keep on trucking with those non-grand prizes and maybe go for a third time in a row next year. Great contest.

Or the "original" entries were genuinely bad to begin with, but who knows! |

All the KyoAni shows that I have seen so far have the same checklist characters, and the same (weird) character designs. Anything deviating from the checklist probably gets rejected outright. |

I still they they are just fishing for ideas with this contest. See all the entries, then work around to fit whatever criteria they have for a future series of their own. The entries can't have been that bad to not have another winner again.

Agreed. So odd that they can't award a prize for the 2nd year and its not even that much ¥.
Heck the manga category can't even merit a mention. Are they really saying "everyone sucks...please do better next time"? Kind of pretentious of them.... |

Well a couple things t,hat isn't a lot of prize money at all so basically they are looking for a cash cow.
Also the entries could suck, for the Hastune Miku contest there was some pretty sub par entries. Nothing really stood out. Me and my friend were going to enter but forgot the deadline u_u. Or as everyone says they are snobs |

A snob who spends most of their time throwing more garbage onto the pile? What a strange creature. |

I am surprised their isn't more hidden talent found through this, guess there are just a lot of crappy entries.

That could have also cut down on the number of submissions, especially if the rights issue didn't change. Anyways, I wish they would continue with Munto TV |
