I'm pretty sure there is an error in that conversion. 2,450,568 yen should convert to 28,887.3 USD. Razz

I'm surprised it didn't raise much more, considering how much disposable income otaku spend on their stash.... Confused

Wow, those are some big names out there, must've been cool just to randomly meet all these VA's/singers. It would be interesting to see videos of this, anime stars/starlets with street-cred takin' their activism to the streets. Smile

I can't fault them for raising only $30K, that's still a lot of money, but I'm sure a lot of people gave before this event, and are probably tapped out.

It doesn't help that it was also chaotic there...

Those were great pictures, thanks for the link! On a side note, that site's NSFW, viewer discretion is advised. Shocked

Definitely. What's funny is that on that article's sidebars, you're greeted with a nudist statue of Hatsune Miku and a woman engaging in onanism, and a bevy of other very NSFW images...and apparently that is NOT considered "mature content" as "mature content visible defaults to off".

$30k in Akihabara, an easily accessed location, seems rather low. Vic Mignogna & Todd Haberkorn could raise more than that if they had a fundraiser in Barrow, Alaska (hyperbole) Wink They have Dethklok-like powers in that regard. Sadly, these Seiyuu don't...I am amazed.

The 24-hour podcast did raise more than that.
