I'm really excited about the new Thundercats!

But Snarf being voiced in Japan... Does that mean he won't have any spoken dialogue?

I don't like to be "that guy" but I think there's an error here.

"Marvel has not announced whether Pasdar will voice the same character in the X-Men anime adaptation."

Don't you mean Ventimiglia?

After all Pasdar's character (Iron Man/Tony Stark) isn't in X-Men while Wolverine is.

I didn't like the TC character designs, but now that I see the trailer...

Snarf, meanwhile, will not have a human voice but will instead talk like an animal. Comparing him to Chewbacca, it was explained by the panel that Lion-O can still hear him and audiences will definitely be able to make out the word "Snarf".

Like a Pokemon. Laughing

Some other changes mentioned here.

Snarf won't have an intelligible voice? Lame!

Audience will make out the word "Snarf"? It had better not be a "Japanese" pronunciation of the word. If it ends with a "u" vowel sound, I for one vote for a re-do. (ie "snarfu")

I guess they had to replace the original snarf, as he was kidnapped and sold by that sketchy Chinese restaurant...(Robot Chicken)

What about the theme song? The other 2 shows featured instrumental songs. Thundercats without the original theme is a failure. Admittedly I liked the guitar instrumental of Wolverine, it was the best thing of the show.

Also, will it still BE Thundercats? Or will it be like Wolverine, where it is basically a corny Samurai movie with modern elements and Wolverine?

When the, as I recall it, NON MUTANT sword master was able to swing his wooden sword with such celerity that he could lacerate Wolverine from across the room I wondered if I was watching Naruto by mistake. I was honestly expecting the bokken to break the adamantium, somehow.

On Thundercats, this art (thanks for the link) doesn't look as bad as I imagined. I thought it would be like Wolverine and Rainbow, which would kill the motif. However, the "retro" art and animation seems to have gone too retro as the original 80s series had greater detail, and the fights in the trailer don't look up to par. Reminds me more of a corny anime based off a JRPG.

Also, CG? You can't do retro art and have CG! That's a crime.

Well, to balance it out, they didn't turn Cheetara into some wide-eyed underage-appearing moe idol. She doesn't look like she could be a bonus character in Arcana Heart 3, captured by the Capturing God, or chasing the male lead in Clannad. As long as they don't turn her into an Occult-Academy-like Tsundere (the Japanese can do amazing things in that arena), this could actually be pretty awesome.

I'll definitely check it out.

Thundercats looks like more boring wannabe anime stuff pumped out by America, so I'll pass. Hated the 80s shows from what I saw.

Heroes guys voicing Iron Man and Wolverine.. seems gimmicky, can't really see them fitting too well.

Surprised they didn't get Blum for Wolverine, they tend to parade him around a lot with that role.

No interest in Thundercats myself, I haven't really been a fan of American cartoons since I was a kid.

I don't know why people are trying to separate original Thundercats from its Japanese or American parentage (half-side). Even though story was written in America, the original Thundercat is still Anime-shon(Animation). They're drawn in Japan and moved like Japanese animation. And yet they're not Anime enough? How srange.

Except the fact of course that's it's Studio 4°C doing all the art.

lol, Batman = Lion-O.

Heeeeeey, that trailer was pretty sexy. Wink Welcome back Thundercats .

Cool that the ol' Lion-O V.O is back, But who is his character?; as in, is he in the trailer?Question

Yes, Lion-O's father.

The big task for the update was to "heat everything up," something Kenney joked that he noticed in the updated Cheetara design.

"She is the original Thundercats ho," he quipped, then adding, "This isn't being recorded, is it?"

So was Spiderman the Animated Series, Batman the Animated Series, Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, Heathcliff, and just about everything else made in the 80s and 90s... should we call those anime? Just being animated there doesn't make something anime, it has to be written and made with their intention; otherwise we just get Totally Spies and Teen Titans stuff.. it might look similar, but it sure isn't executed similar. Same thing with Transformers Animated and Boondocks having it's animation done in Japan.. they're still American cartoons down to the bone.

Hey, where's Panthro?

I didn't see him in either trailer. Maybe I blinked, but he's definitely not in the 2nd trailer.
(Can't rewatch the "first" one, the one linked in this thread, due to internet site restrictions ATM.)

I'm hoping the dubbing will go well, though I would have been more comfortable had they used voice actors I was familiar with.

EDIT: Oh NOES, the guy voicing Lion-O was Kim Possible's inept, idiot male sidekick in Disney's eponymous "girl power" cartoon which seemed to inspire the 1st gen E-Surance commercials.

He was also the inept, idiot older "jock" brother on the American TV show Boy Meets World. I'm sensing a theme here, and Lion-O wasn't an inept idiot.

As soon as posted that line on actors, I KNEW I had heard of him. Now I'm scared.
