Wow, I was sure they'd eff it up like that live-action Gundam thing. But if it's good enough to merit a B, then it makes me even more glad that they were able to get it out before the infamous Di$ney remake which was gonna turn the ship into the U.S.S. Arizona.

So we talking on par with Godzilla Final War's here? I could live with that level of acting.

For the love of Kimura (quite literally), I want to see this so bad already. Zac, how did you luck out?

I hope it's at least as good as the 20th Century Boys movies.
Also, is the original theme song in it? |

That's a really nice poster.
Honestly, I was expecting this to totally suck. Now it's on my radar. |

Zac, how were the subtitles for this? I saw that you watched this at the American Film Market. Any "guess" as to who's going to pick up the North American license? Also, what was the crowd's reception to this film when you watched it. I realize it was not a normal crowd(film buyers).

Wish Japanese movies were as good as Korean movies in the acting department.

I'm happy that the movie did break thru Zac's Icy Cinematic heart, I'm pumped that the movie has received positive reviews and as a Yamato fan I'm anxious to see it on these shores.
PS: I one of those guys that wanted those "3-minute long beauty shots of carefully rendered model spacecraft". Something like this. |

I hear elements of the original theme song and other key pieces in some of the clips I've seen online. I don't think were are going to get a version with lyrics. They did that for take off in Resurrection already. |

They were fine, the small crowd obviously wasn't just buyers as there were a handful of well-connected Yamato fans there (some of which I knew) so it got a relatively enthusiastic response (compared to the usual stony silence you get in a screening full of film executives and buyers). Can't comment on the buyer reaction, though.
Yep, a couple times, most notably during the launch sequence.
Eh, the acting was better than your average modern Godzilla flick, but not by a huge amount. |
