And we still have quite a while to go before sales start to really decline.

Freaking hell, I know how much they want for it but dammit, I wish this was licensed here.

Wow. I didn't think the mark that I had set for it to reach would only take a month.

Shipped, not sold. Sold is coming, though, inevitably.

I really want this brought stateside; then again, we'll probably have to wait longer once it is for the "definitive" version, like we did with 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone.
By the way, did I mention that one million is... over 9000?! (sorry, temporary lapse in maturity there.)

Can I just say how I love that it's a sports newspaper that reported this.

How much are Gainax & Khara asking for EVA 2.22 exactly?

This news is so cool. I just saw this movie last night with friends on an imported R2 DVD. I can't even remember the last time I've been so excited over an anime (and this was raw and without translations!) I'm so glad that it's such a hit and so many people are getting to watch it. I hope that everybody gets a chance to see this movie someday; it's amazing.

I don't know if I'll be able to wait out the funimation licensing battle on this...I may just import the Hong Kong official Blu-ray release because it has English subtitles...but I would rather have one with a (decent) English dub...

Same. Hopefully they'll announce something soon.

According to amazon.co.jp, ¥6,090 for the BD, ¥5,985 for the DVD. That's roughly $60 for either. Amazon's discount brings them closer to $45, but that's not including the $20 or so (IIRC) for international shipping.

Think he's talking about the licensing cost, which we know is more than any other anime movie so far.

Heh. In that case, probably a bit more than ¥6,090. Who knows, maybe Manga is looking for another feather in its cap (in terms of R1 releases, I mean).

Doubtful, I assume Funimation's negotiations are just taking longer this time because they are probably trying to scrap the theatrical release (they were required to have a theatrical release with the first film) since that is just a complete fail here in the US and a waste of money. Then again, that is just my assumption, no matter how logical it may sound it may not be true
