I'm flattered as an Angeleno, but I still have to ask why? Your country actually has public transportation. Plus, you'll have trouble getting the same audience here, because most people here prefer to listen to this trash. Oh, well, hope you have better luck than Mari Ijima did.

Dir En Grey has a huge following in the US, and they built their career on ripping off X Japan. also this is Lollapalooza we're talking about, it's not exactly a pop environment (although Lady Gaga is performing). this is exactly the kind of launching pad these guys need.

RE: Mari:

Part of the problem was that for a while, I think she was still trying to play the part of a "pop princess" of the same mold that she was when she was on top of the J-Pop world in the '80s (thanks in no small part to Macross). I saw her a couplea years ago at MWCon in Long Beach, and she seemed quite bitter about being eclipsed by the likes of Hikaru Utada, et. al.

Her latest album, however, seems to be her "getting the message" and actually branching out musically (much like she had done with the composition for the silent film "Lorna Doone" a few years back).

RE: X Japan

As a fellow Angleno, this is gonna be fun -- now we have TWO famous bands named "X" locally. We oughta get Exene, John, Billy and DJ up with these guys some day... Twisted Evil
