Back when the news surfaced, kids were blaming Konami and thought YGO was going down the hill in America. LOL

I wonder if Major League Baseball, the NBA, and NHL might reconsider their relationships with Upper Deck after this debacle. Sports leagues are very concerned about defending their intellectual properties and won't be too happy to hear that one of their main partners is guilty of counterfeiting. |

What is your source for this statistic? Wizard only claimed "several billion Magic cards" in 2003. According to Guinness, Yu-Gi-Oh! set the world record last year with 22.6 billion cards. |

It's the internet. We don't need sources. Just random blogs, opinions, and wikipedia; which does not list any sales figures either. The most I've seen was 11 billion stuck to MTG. But isn't that also a part of their printing policy anyways? They only print so many of each set for so long? |

Well even though I don't play Yu-Gi-Oh, this is pretty good news.
Maybe Konami will make that game a bit more accessible to players. Without having to pay ridiculous amounts of $ to get a decent tournament calibur deck (which from what I have heard can be a several HUNDRED dollar expense). |

I doubt the price will change, but the quality should go up. But this is good news, indeed; I hope they end up paying a huge fine.

Wait, so does this mean those Ultra Rare cards I got in Shonen Jump a while back in 2006-2007, back when I used to subscribe are counterfeit?

My understanding is that while they made the legitmate versions that you find in retailers and hobby shops and shonen jump; they apparently also made side money selling off the prints of cards to non-certified makers IE counterfeiters. Those are the cards you would find in like China Town or a street vender. I THINK your cards are okay. |

The ones in JUMP are erm I think printed by Viz anyway... It's because of the weird thing Konami and Shueisha have over that kind of stuff. |
