Will Summer Wars be dubbed? Does this mean that there will be no US theatrical release-necessary for Oscar consideration? (Will the movie even be released in the US on BD and DVD at the same time as it's UK release?)

Next September...I was really hoping for something sooner for a movie that seems so incredible. Sad

Alright looking forward to it.
I think it will be dubbed can't think of any feature that they released that wasn't dual language.

Although I'll never forgive them for the 'Devilman' fiasco. Sub and dub for the VHS but dub only for the DVD. Same with Dangaioh. How the hell do you screw that up? I really wanted those films on DVD. Evil or Very Mad

Personal feelings aside I'm looking forward to seeing this film. Smile

Now that's more like it. Now if Manga could manage to bring them over to the US, it would be wonderful.

Gah, September. Torture. But weeeeeeee an official release and a Blu-Ray too! I can wait. Kind of want to see the EVA 2.0 Movie first anyways. Hoping for news on that release. But yeah! Summer Wars!

Even if it was dubbed and put into every single theater, it would never be nominated for an Oscar, much less win.

Didn't know Manga still had clout in the UK.

That's only around six months after the Japanese disc release, that's actually a pretty good turnaround.

Come on NA license, I really want to see this!

I am in total agreement with the two of you. Ever since I read the review on ANN here, it sounds like an amazing movie. We can only wait and see if it will have a North American license.

Considering FUNimation just announced today they have Kamui, I am going to assume that they may have Summer Wars too since Manga rarely lisence anything these days any anime that hasn't been dubbed by Americans. However, I am happy since the movie was directed by my personal favourite (I've loved his style since the Digimon movies and One Piece Movie 6) and it has been claimed as being a great film. I look forward to seeing it!

An English dub starring Sharon Holm, Peter Marinker, and Toni Barry should be expected.

Excellent. To think that this would be licensed here this fast. No need to use unofficial means.

The U.K. gets Summer Wars and Australia gets Mind Game? Let this be the last time I hear fans say Americans get all the good stuff. We keep getting He is My Master! so don't complain.

Not like it won't get licensed over there soon enough. So, I'll keep complaining.

I assure you it won't be, since those are rare exceptions, and there is little change you won't be seeing Summer Wars licensed over there sooner rather than later.
