Does it have a Japanese release or not?

Well of course it has.I bought one and it had a release even though i'm a dubber. As for this,it's a decent acpect in Ryku's telling of it,though it does makes light look like a even more psychotic. Especially spoiler[during the new scene at L's graveyard cause that didn't show during it's TV run.]

However i'm more puzzled by that shinigami. IS he gonna do the same thing that ryuk did cause he was bored? I guess the 2nd one L's successor may give an aspect to it.

Whoa, that's in this DVD?! I saw that on Youtube, and thought it was great (spoiler[granted, I'm an L fan and think Light is wrong, but still a great scene]). I'm not interested in "short summary" adaptations, but that might convince me to buy it.

I'm probably going to pass on this since I have the series already and this is mostly the same. I figured when I first watched the show that at some point we'd see the story from Ryuk's perspective, and while the idea was interesting, being almost entirely made of stuff I've seen already makes it less interesting. Maybe I'll give it the old Netflix rental.

That was a pretty negative review despite the grades given

I was rather interested in this until I learned the whole "Ryuk's perspective" thing was a lie. What a gyp!

Well, there aren't grade categories for "really as advertised" or "worth your time." Yet another reason to ignore the grades and just read the review instead.

I know. I was kinda hoping that every so often we'd just hear Ryuk thinking, "Mmm, apples."

Now I'm imagining a "Scrubs"-like take on Death Note: Ryuk narrates and everyone once in a while drifts off into an apple-related fantasy.

spoiler[None of the episodes following the five-year time jump involving Near and Mello are included in this 130-minute]

What episode in the the TV series indicated there was a spoiler[ 5 year time jump?] I don't think I fell asleep during any of the volumes.

Shortly after spoiler[L's death (how long are we really going to need spoilers for this? doesn't everyone know by now that he dies?)] I believe there was a bit of a montage showing time passing; I don't believe the time skip itself was 5 years, because the first half actually covered about a year's worth of time, but the anime series begins in 2007 and ends in 2012 (the corresponding dates for the manga are 2003 and 20010 IIRC). And no, I didn't know that off the top of my head, I'd written it down somewhere and looked it up. I have this whole timeline-according-to-anime thing made up for fun. I'm a nerd. Embarassed

Alright thanks. When I rewatch it in a year or two, I will look out for the spoiler[exact dates].
