From the sounds of the voices of the dub, this is definitely done in LA.

Nice trailer.

They nailed it perfectly. I wonder if Sony licensed it themselves.

McConnohie on narration for one.

I also spot Jamieson Price and Tony Oliver in there. A couple others too that I definitely know but can't place.

Wow, that's fast work.

Michael McConnohie is an excellent voice for narration.

Indeed, he's just got one of those great voices that are instantly recognizable.

So do we know what the deal is with this dub? I'm thinking this is a promotional piece done hoping to wrangle in some potential international buyers. They certainly put a lot of work into it if that's all it is.

123 volumes???!!!!! Is that some sort of record? Granted, they're bound to be light novels rather than full-sized novels, but still.... That is a lot of books for one series. Of course, that many novels basically screams that it's episodic in nature which doesn't necessarily say good things for its quality and the fact that the author has churned out that many doesn't necessarily say good things about their quality either (given the difficulty of writing that many good books), but it's obviously good enough to be popular enough to last 30 years and 123 volumes and still be going.

The sheer size of the source material makes it so that this is must see if only to see what the fuss is all about.

I could be wrong but, for a brand new show to be licensed this quickly, this means this type of practice might occur more in the future.

But this could also mean this show is worth the money if a US company already.

I think maybe it is a promo for people to license it. As far as other voice actors, the two women I picked up was Kate Higgins (I believe she was the first lady) and Kari Wahlgren. I think I heard Sam Riegal in one of the battle scenes.

Woah!!! O_O What an awesome trailer that was!! I'm liking this anime series already. Very Happy I'm not much of a dub fan, but I got to admit the dub version is really good, too.

Actually, I just looked the wikipedia article for Guin Saga, and - according to them - it's now at 124 volumes with 28 million copies sold worldwide as well as being the longest continuing single-writer's work in the world. It was also apparently originally planned to be 100 volumes, but what are another 24+ when you've already hit 100. After all, percentage-wise, if the series had originally planned to be 4 books long, that would be the same as adding just one more...

Yikes, this is a massive series. Somehow I don't think that they'll ever animate the whole thing...

Is it just my lousy connection speed, or is the lip-synching a little off? My guess is it's my lousy connection speed...

I'm not 100% opposed to dubs or anything, but I always prefer the subtitled version myself. Still - I really like the voices for Rinda, Remus, and Guin here! If this means the series has already been licensed, and those are the official actors, then that's a very good sign for the dubbed version.

So... does anyone actually know what's up here? ANN crew? Anybody?

This is sort of like a five-across-the-eyes; possibly necessary and very surprising. I just find it odd that nobody seemed to get wind of this before it was posted, and I'm running on the assumption that it's not just the trailer that got dubbed (what'd be the point)? Is there any word on how a dub could be distributed? TV? Internet? DVD? Anything?

This is welcome because I've been anticipating the series, but it's probably the single biggest ! moment of the year so far.
