Can't say I disagree with the rating, but it seems kind of silly to me to expect any kind of education from a series based off a 4-koma that spends most of it's time making various sex jokes with college aged characters that look like children >.>

Anyone looking for another Genshiken or the like obviously hasn't bothered to look at what they're about to watch >.>

Genshiken it sure ain't, but I've spent my free time watching much worse. Not surprisingly, it has little to no priority on my list to collect on DVD, since I still need to get Genshiken! Anime smile + sweatdrop

Sigh, I really liked Doujin Work too. This trend of dub-less slice of life series is getting extremely troubling...~_~ No purchase for me again...

Same here. I probably would have really enjoyed this series if this were dubbed. Although I always would chose dub over sub, I don't mind subtitles. It's like Ramen Fighter Miki, I don't mind there isn't a English dub, but if there was one I'd watch the show in that track.

Maybe I'll watch this through Netflix, but I still have Ranma 1/2 season six and the uncut/unedited version of One Piece to watch.

I am seriously worried about this and Media Blaster's other single volume releases continuing.

Odd things like release dates slipping, not just for one, but for all their titles.

Then when this finally was available, it shows up super discounted in the Weekly Rightstuf sale. Same thing with Ah My Buddha.

This is giving off a real ADV-like vibe before it all came crashing down for them last year.

For what animation there was on this disc, I found it hilarious.

I just finished Comic Party (I liked) and Comic Party Revolution (almost gave it the rare 2 stars on netflix, In my opinion, it was one of the most dislikeable continuations I have watched). I liked how Doujin Work, like Genshiken, was based on the premise that a lot of Doujinshi are based on sexual content.

I timed an episode, and without the opener and closer, these things are between 10 and 11 minutes long. No problem I thought, then the non animation portion started after episode 4 and kept going and going....

And they are (or were) planning 3 releases for what could have been crammed on 1 disc, 2 at the most.

I feel the Media Blaster's sub only releases are great for the price, but this one is stretching the limit.

As an aside...
I expect everyone who mentions no dub no sale to go buy Ah My Buddha, to show Media Blaster's your support for dubbed anime and then maybe they could slap a dub on this.

I kinda doubt that. Looks like this series is going to be another one im gonna skip. I got no problem with subs,I even watch Mahou Shojo Lyrical Nanoha & even Kodomo no Jikan in it's RAW versions cause i don't like fansubs at all,but it's more preferable listening to a language i was born with.

Either way it's another anime series that could a dark horse but isn't cause Anime series+ Licensed by either Media Blasters or Nozumi Animation = no english dubs.

I also like this show and really wish there was a dub. The price isn't bad at all though so I will probably buy it... eventually.

Because by NOT buying this one because it lacks a dub, you're really supporting the industry by declaring that you won't watch a sub-only DVD even though you were perfectly happy watching it subbed in a certain other fashion. And ignoring the fact that MB mostly does sub-only titles, that this is a niche title, etc... Rolling Eyes

Evil or Very Mad I can't believe this. It's a show you actually LIKED but you refuse to support all the creative minds behind it just because Media Blasters didn't pay some schmucks for a superfluous language track? What the hell?! How did you decide you liked it in the first place if you didn't

A. watch it fansubbed
B. watch it raw

Have you not heard about various production and distribution companies doing massive lay-offs or completely crumbling?

You say superfluous. I do not think that word means what you think it means. From Princeton: "superfluous: serving no useful purpose; having no excuse for being;"

Clearly, if a dub is needed to get me and others to purchase a series, I dare say it is anything but superfluous. Yuri is the only thing I will purchase subbed, because for god knows what reason no one will ever dub it ever. -_- But, I'm not supporting this new "sea change" of a refusal to dub slice of life shows.

Why should I pay for a product I feel isn't up to par? As much as My Anime link will prove I certainly support the industry, I do not have an obligation to pay for something I feel is substandard, regardless of whether or not I like the source material.

It's the same reason I love Tenjou Tenge but refused to purchase the American manga.

That's the trouble when illicit distribution devalues the original product to nothing.

To convince some fansub watchers (who're possibly watching more shows than they can feasibly buy) to purchase DVDs, the releases must contain added value, be it an English dub or lavish packaging.

Nevertheless, I'm sure the distributors have taken this into account. If the support of sub-only fans can still make a release profitable, the project remains a success.

I agree with you completely. Since I mostly rent movies, the series must be exceptionally well done for me to actually purchase a dvd. However, as much as I enjoy watching anime in the English audio, I don't mind subtitles. But I will always chose English audio if that is possible.

With Doujin Work, if there was a English audio, I probably would rent the series from Netflix and if I thought the series was well done, tell others about it and then maybe buy it. But there isn't a English audio on a dvd, then there would be no point for me to buy it.

But besides an English audio, the voice actors also matter. I bought Lucky Star volume one simply because Wandee Lee was in the show. I also bought Kujibiki Unbalance volume one just to watch the first OVA was well. But typically I rent movie legally from Netflix.
