I wish I were at that festival, though the Macross didn't really get the type of fanfare for its departure (none) like the Megaroad did.

Prototype:

Pity it's a model, not a kit.

Aww, this makes me happy inside. My friends and I just started watching the original Macross this month and were pretty amused to see that its beginning was only a couple days in the future. We'd actually said that everyone should hold a big Macross Party on the actual launching day too, so this is awesome.

MA-KU-ROSS! MA-KU-ROSS!

"Macross: The Super Dimension Space Launching Ceremony"

Am I correct in thinking this event's full name is "Macross: The Super Dimension Space Launching Ceremony ~It's Really 2009 Already…It's 2/22 (Nyan Nyan Nyan), Deculture!~"?
As nostalgic as such a name may be for fans of the franchise, did it really need all those Nyans?

I love how all the official designs are from DYRL, as its designs were retconned into the canon.

The SDF-1 prototype looks awesome. I can only shudder to think what the price on that thing is going to be. Not that it'd stop me from buying it, mind you.
