Carlo, your coolness factor just went up ten-fold by referencing YGO:TAS. Rock on, dude... in America!

I lol'd...but not in America. I'm in Australia. D:

Anyway...I had no idea Inukami had even been licensed. I read some scans of it and actually prefer the manga to the anime, if not just for the lovely artwork. This may be one of those series I would buy for the art alone, it's just so nice to -look- at.
I'll admit its nothing special, but its a fun diversion at least, and if an unoriginal yet fun diversion has the art to back it up, I'm usually sold.

Oh goody, I needed some recomendations <3

I'll probably be picking up Inukami! when it hits the bookstore, and maybe Mao-chan (The artist also did Negima, right? My class goes through 'manga cycles', and though I was all stocked up for Death Note, I read the first few pages of Negima! in store and ran away screaming... why must it have been echi... WHY?) but I saw DramaCon the other day in the book store.
I've been reading DramaCon for almost a year. A friend of mine gave me the first volume for Christmas, and I was sad it wasn't Japanese, but when I read it, I nearly DIED of laughter! And the cute way it tries to NOT infringe copy right, when you can still tell what their talking about? Wolf's REIGN? Yes, we get it. Anyway, I was wondering weather I should get it (Thankfully I had no money to make the choice then and there, I was just browsing) because I've read the whole thing already, but my volumes are torn, and crumpled from missuse and abuse, and I think one was never returned by a friend who moved to Dubai. But when I read the article, and say there was a one shot? OK GOING OUT TO GET TOMORROW.

What can I say, I'm a DramaCon addict and I recomend it to everyone. Everyone in the anime/manga community can relate to SOMEONE. Weather they can't get a friend to cosplay, or (like myself) are a writer having trouble with their artist, or has a parent who just doesn't like it. I'm sure it's more relevent here than in Japan, but it's a good one.

Edit: Ugh... why can't I remember that you click submit ONCE? I posted this four times before deleting them

I just finished the first volume of Fate/Stay Night myself last night and I sorta agree and disagree with the review.

I'm not sure I'd rate it a B... but maybe a C+. The art is the biggest downfall but by the end of the volume, I was already getting used to it. Except the eyes... but it wasn't bad.

Found one typo in the speech bubbles, though, haha.

And sending in another artist to do the work doesn't change the fact that Akamatsu's character designs are BOOORING.

Fate/stay night is in fact boring. Both on the manga end and the anime end of the spectre. I'm surprised I read through volume 3 of the series. It also feels a little overhyped, from what I've heard.

Is the Fate/Stay Night manga actually written by TYPE-MOON, or subbed out?

The original story is written by Type-Moon, the manga is written by Nishiwaki Datto.

I only read the scanlation of vol. 1 few years back, but I have to say that I agree with most of the review. Story was rushed and the art was bad. In the game the main character met Saber on the third day, not first, and before that there was the prologue with the same days told by Rin.

Anime was good, not great or anything. Would have been better with bigger budget and 50+ episodes.

Though I agree that the manga was bad, I can't agree with some parts of the review. The grail war is totally not a Shonen Jump tournament. The clearest difference being the length of it, there is only so many days a battle royale between human weapons of the highest class can continue. I don't remember if the manga explained why Shirou wants to be a hero of justice, but it should be explained in detail sooner or later. According to wikipedia, manga is based on the second storyline "Unlimited Blade Works" (anime was mostly based on first storyline "Fate") so Shirou will get plenty of chances to question his ideal of being the hero of justice. Oh, and he already had the powers he uses in the first fights to begin with and was using them for non-combat purposes.

That ended up sounding more fanboyish than it was supposed to, but being the Type Moon fanboy that I am I couldn't ignore that comment about them being mediocre no matter how much the mangaka has messed with the plot. I believe that most of the Type Moon fans are fans because of the original games, not the mediocre adaptions. Only decent adaption has been the Tsukihime manga.

There is a good reason why fans have translated both Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night games. Play the game and leave this manga alone.

One of my roommates uses that line. "You're not American. You're not even wearing a flag on your head!" (Actually, didn't Palin say that about Obama? ... in America.)

Anyway, my roommate already spoiled the plot of Fate Stay Night for me. He played the game and told me the plot. spoiler[King Arthur goes forward in time to give a Japanese boy a blowjob.] Suddenly I wasn't interested in checking it out anymore.

Nice to see the hardcover version of DramaCon is out... in America. Pretty sure I ordered it from my local shop a while back. Hopefully it didn't get bumped or resolicited.

In a very overly simplified form that is true, but you have to consider that the game is about as long as 15+ of your average light novels, and "that" happens only in the weakest of the three storylines.

From what I heard though the game was actually "light" compared to Tsukihime, in terms of certain elements within the game.

Yes, Tsukihime is far darker.

Even fans who already have the original 3 volumes can't miss this one ... not with the all-new bonus one-shot in the back!

But I don't want to spend more money. But...one-shot.

Sigh.

Having no money sucks...in Canada :]

I remember flipping through the omnibus volume in Borders a few weeks ago, but I seriously don't remember seeing a "bonus chapter." I do remember seeing that all the bonus materials from the three volume release were in the new one with some additional artwork at the back, but I'm wondering what this bonus chapter supposedly is. It's newly drawn? Hm, maybe I just missed it?

Anyway, Dramacon is the manga series that gives me hope for OEL manga. I'm generally on the side of "Tokyopop is damaging their chances in the NA manga market by doing OEL," but if they can pull off one "Dramacon" every few years I'll let them get away with it.
