Probably because the agreement in the license mandated that it had to be sub-only, few episodes per disc, and outrageously priced. Bandai Ent. didn't want to deal with it, likely.

Lack of Sola makes me a sad puppy. I'd have been willing to pay obscene prices for that one.
Edit: Say what? Changing the story on us? Sounds like win to me! Last edited by Dorcas_Aurelia on Fri Sep 26, 2008 2:12 pm; edited 1 time in total |

This saddens me aswell, maybe they can work something out in the future. I hope so.
To bad they had to start NYAF with a downer. Lets hope for more good news! Last edited by Ghstmtrx on Fri Sep 26, 2008 1:23 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Guys, this was just one big gigantic prank on Bandai's part.
They aren't cancelled:
Bandai's site also has the Sola information... God that's such a horrible prank... |

Nice one Bandai getting us all worked up like that... Now we need release dates for these, and your three upcoming Blue-Rays. Akira, GITS 2 and Sword of the Stranger.

That's good to know. Base on what I read in the initial press release it seems that BEI wasn't planning on releasing sola and True Tears with an English-language dub. I didn't think that they would cancel it outright. But a collection instead of singles will work great in my case. |

Sub-only? Still?
Is Bandai TRYING to push people away? Are they TRYING to alienate potential fans? |

I dont know for sure, but maybe more people like subs over dubs. Im not saying theres anything wrong with dubs you understand. I also dont see how that is an expensive price for 13 episodes. Then again any price is expensive compared to "free" now isnt it. Last edited by Kireek on Fri Sep 26, 2008 2:15 pm; edited 1 time in total |

$45 for 15 episodes is not a rip-off. Especially not for initial release. |

That said, I never really got into sola or true tears, even up to the end. The twists and characters' indecisiveness always erked me. However, I will be there in a heartbeat when they get around to pushing Shigofumi out the door. |

I say it's more of economics factors than just tailoring towards sub fans. If this came out about a half a decade ago, this would have SO gotten an English dub. It's pretty depressing. |

1. Not quite. If you talk to anyone in the industry, or anyone who buys anime DVDs, you'll likely see dubs winning out. Many a fan has rejected a DVD because it was sub-only--myself included. If it ain't dubbed, I ain't buying. After all, they make anime accessible to the widest possible audience. 2. $45 for thirteen episodes? Shit, I paid $40 for all of Please Teacher! For that, I blame the fansub kids and weeaboo neckbeards who don't want to pay for anime and just download or watch on YouTube, Veoh, etc. |
