Switch 2 accessories are seeing their prices increase by about $5 USD.

I wonder if this will earn them any good will with consumers/fans. Probably not since people were whining about the price before the whole deal with them canceling preorders, but maybe?
Personally I'm relieved but that "depending on market conditions" is something that's got me nervous. I was going to wait a few months until the holidays since I'm not in a great financial position to buy a new console but I feel so confident Trump's gonna do something stupid by then that'll end up raising the price that I think it might be better in the long run to bite the bullet and buy one at (or near) launch. |

As far as I could tell most weren't complaining about the hardware price it was the software price they were mad at. |

Incorrect headline. Switch 2 preorders opened weeks ago. Out of the dozens of countries where the console will be available, only two experienced a delay. This is important to point out because this situation is completely unusual and it should not be normalized. Gamers in North America were screwed over as a direct result of one man's trade policy. Things turned out better for gamers who live further from the influence of the United States and its ridiculous leaders.

Link to the article at Nintendo.com with the list of updated prices: https://www.nintendo.com/us/whatsnew/nintendo-maintains-nintendo-switch-2-pricing-retail-pre-orders-to-begin-april-24-in-u-s/
Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price - As of April 18, 2025 Nintendo Switch 2 - $449.99 Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle - $499.99 Mario Kart World - $79.99 Donkey Kong Bananza - $69.99 Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller - $84.99 Joy-Con 2 Pair - $94.99 Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip - $39.99 Joy-Con 2 Strap - $13.99 Joy-Con 2 Wheel Set - $24.99 Nintendo Switch 2 Camera - $54.99 Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set - $119.99 Nintendo Switch 2 Carrying Case & Screen Protector - $39.99 Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case - $84.99 Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter - $34.99 Samsung microSD Express Card – 256GB for Nintendo Switch™ 2 - $59.99 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I hope my current PowerA controller works with it, just lacking the "C" button for the chat I won't be using, as those Joycon2 pair and Pro Controller prices are obscene...and IIRC the camera (which I also was not planning to buy) was $29.99, so that item nearly doubled |

That could be a good idea. Haven't PS5's also gotten more expensive since launch? |

I'm almost sure they will. They already said that current Pro Controllers (as well as those Gamecube controllers they put out when Smash Ultimate came out) will work and PowerA is officially licensed. So yeah, that'll work. The price hikes for accessories are pretty nuts though. Though I'm not too surprised. Tariffs are still a thing even if they're not as steep as they were when Trump first announced them. Nintendo's probably banking on the goodwill of the console/games not going up (well, further up for ones like Mario Kart) to justify maintaining their profit margins on peripherals. I feel like (well, hope) that if the tariffs go down further (or, God willing, away for good) the peripheral prices will drop too. But unfortunately the much more likely outcome is that Nintendo fans with zero self control will buy plenty and justify the price to Nintendo so they'll just keep them the same until at least, like... a year from now
Yeah, in fact they literally just announced price hikes this past Sunday for Europe, Australia, and New Zealand |

The reason it's only $5 accessory increases instead of much more is exactly because everyone was huffing and puffing over how crazy all these tariffs were. Because of that, the policy was put on pause, at least temporarily because it was also crashing the market. People weren't fearmongering. We saw the policies destroying the economy in real time. And as Nintendo themselves have said, they now have to keep their options open to potentially raise the price in the future if these policies go back in place. So basically the reason the tariff policies haven't done more damage is precisely because people huffed and puffed about them. |

Especially because plenty of industries are experiencing massive layoffs, orders are being held up or stopped for some products altogether, and if they up tariffs to massive amounts in countries where the switch 2 is manufactured for the US it will definitely not remain at thise prices. |

Exactly. If these tariffs cause anymore issues, which they likely will, $5 is going to feel like a lot more to a lot of people. And that's making a big assumption the prices don't go up more. Nintendo has apparently been stockpiling consoles, too, which is probably allowing them to keep the previous price for now, so what happens when those run out and the rest of the tariffs are unpaused? |

$95 for controllers is high way robbery.

I guess they did what I theorized after all in keeping the prices for the game and system the same.
Plus tax! Despite not owning a PS5 I bought a DualSense for my PC and it was like 80 bucks. Controllers are hilariously overpriced these days. |

I mean, these prices aren't that much different from the NS1 accessories -- joycons were already $90, and the old pro controllers were, what, $80? Basically, they've been obscenely overpriced for a long while now.
What really raises an eyebrow for me is the $85 case. I think my NS1 case was only... I wanna say $20? |

Especially if neither the joy cons or pro controller have fixed the drift issues
Don’t recall them jumping up in price but as far I can recall they were both 70 dollars last I checked. |
