Daicon III and IV are pretty much required viewing. Daicon Films later changed their name to Gainax. Yes, THAT Gainax.

O_O The Otakon staff weren't kidding when they said it was going to be big this year, that's for certain.
Studio Madhouse?
The director for Genshiken?

Wow, this is awesome. I hope they use it in the opening ceremonies.

Durrr it's not Gainax (Daicon Film) and it won't be copyright infringing. Nice try Madhouse, but it will be no Daicon IV.

It may NOT be a Daicon video, but hell, it's great that they are going to do it, which makes it even better.

Likely, nothing. Madhouse and Otakon have a great relationship from what I hear. Maruyama is a longtime friend of the con.

That's so sweet of them! They must have good memories at Otakon.

That doesn't mean that it can't be just as good. I mean, Madhouse is a great studio. Man, I wish I lived further south...

The guy who did the OP for Genshiken and Madhouse is behind it.
This will be epic. I'm having a geekgasim. Ahhhhhhh!
I'm proud to be an otaku on days like this!

Not to be pessimistic, but I've gone to Otakon for the last few years. The first few years were great, then I was highly disappointed when they cut the tier pre-reg and group reg (and then using the high end price), though the con was ok. Then last year in my mind was a wreck. And now I look this year to see they've raised rates. They say they want this year to be the biggest ever, well besides the fact that every thing (not just cons) say that, I'll hold off my judgment. I'd almost hope that Madhouse was donating the video for free (which I doubt), cause this doesn't seem to justify the rate hikes of late. Don't get me wrong, I think the video could be cool but I think money could be better spent elsewhere. I definitely hope there is more to come in Otakon's pipeline to justify everything.
