Wait, what? That'd be funny if this was the first big screen Japanese film (or remake/English adaptation?), but it's not...

Anyway, this is pretty good news. Freddie Highmore was very cute in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. But wow, he's already 16? Time flies.

Curious now as to whether he'll have his British accent or if he'll use an American one for Astro.

Why can't Japanese filmmakers/production to directing Astro Boy instead of Hollywood? Is Hollywood better than J-Movies?

I have to say Flushed Away was surprisingly good. Space Jam? Not so much. Haven't seen the CGI Tutles movie I think these guys also did.

Actually, Japan may eventually own everything, but everything will be made in China.

Japanese directors can, and Japanese directors have. There have been two Japanese Astro Boy movies already--three if you count a theme-park one.

Not as a generalization. In any case, it's strange to cubbyhole this movie as "Hollywood" when it's produced and animated in Hong Kong, directed by a English man best known for the very English Aardman films, and stars an English actor in the lead.

I just saw Spiderwick, and I rather enjoyed him as both twins... It didn't even occur to me they were the same kid until the credits! *Is a ditz* But anyhow, I think I'd like to see this movie just for him, even if I've never been that big a fan of Astro Boy.

. . . because they're not the ones working on this project? Seems pretty simple to me. :B

Besides, why limit adaptations to the countries they originated from? You might as well say Disney shouldn't have made adaptations of The Little Mermaid or Mulan.

As for the announcement, I gotta say I'm happy. From what I've seen/heard of this kid, he seems just about right for Astro Boy. :]

Well.... I believe that the screen writers guild strike have a lot to do, to me, there should be register people from the guild to make it valid to get into the competitions.

Some stuff are good in Hollywood, and J movies are not good the 80% of the releases.

But the SPACE JAM Writer? god...
hope its not bad in story like final fantasy the movie if not, imagi can do their paperworks to file a bankrupt
