The show is definitely back and getting deep into world-building/political play as Rimuru settles into being a Demon Lord and the fallout of season 2 as other forces react to that.
Although considering how Tempest just steamrolled through Clayman and his forces I'm curious if they'll be able to establish any real stakes again even if they're obviously teasing a rematch against Hinata (who is slowly realizing she was being used).

"Lets throw a party" is a promise of the most boring arc possible. If I recall correctly, the promise is kept.
[While both awful, I think theres a difference between feudal labour service and chattel slavery. This shouldn't matter, but we get so much actual chattel slavery in similar shows I feel I should give partial credit.]

Given that previous seasons had more conferences than any anime this side of Shirobako that we started out with talking, talking and more talking is pretty par for the course.
As for the prisoners of war used as labour, given that we had just finished slaughtering an entire army I was half expecting them to just be flat out murdered, so alive but doing forced labour was a step up.

Episode 2 has a hilarious contrast when our established villain group went about desiring world domination in the coldest, most boring and generic way possible, and we immediatly switch to Valentine and her struggles juggling propaganda, internal affairs, war, international relationships, diplomatic manipulation, strategy and a different holy war against some dudes we just learned about

I got so lost with the constant change of subjects that I was under the impression that Geld's workers were Eurazanian refugees and volunteers, not the captured... majin was it? What were majin anyway? What do they look like? I think the hero's girlfriend was one but that there were also other options?

^I thought it was a mix of both Eurazania & "prisoners with jobs". I thought they said they were planning to integrate the captured majin into the population though.
I can't imagine what happens with them is going to be that much of a focus though. Eventually we'll probably just get a throw away line about how happy they are now and are fitting in fine and that will be the end of it.

I don't even know how to react to this except laugh awkwardly
Quote: | I know it's supposed to be a joke about Rimuru's leadership style (and its effect on everyone else) but surely the idea of everyone just passing the dirty jobs off on their subordinates and running away is going to come back and bite them in the ass someday, right? |
This is the kind of story where Rimuru and those associated with him face little to no serious consequences for their actions and everything they do only favors them whether in minor or major ways.
Quote: | Then you add to that the numerous not-so-important things that get screen time as we check in with every single member of Rimuru's entourage to hear about what they've been up to. It's so much that you start to feel like you should be taking notes. |
A good chunk of the novel is like this so you better get used to it because they're likely to keep doing this moving forward

The simplest explanation is that Majin or Magic Born (in the English translation of the novels) is the catchall term for intelligent monsters. Its complicated so lets leave it at that

and that right there is one of the main pet peeves for all anime adaptations along side the "READ THE BOOKS, KIDS!" type of ending!
they have a unhealthy habbit to leave out a lot of stuff from the source materials. especially if their a kadokawa adaptation! its a business ploy by anime studios like them to get anime only viewers to buy the source materials!
surprised the reviewer did not figure that out for it would have saved him the disappointment when reviewing these eps for a majority of us who read the manga or light novels probably figgured that this season would leave out a lot of source material content as for the reasonings i mentioned as well as so that kadokawa can meet its 12 ep a season schedule for certain anime series!

On regards to the war prisioners , can someone remind me how they were decided to be dealt with last season? Were they meant to become slaves or to do force labour as war reparations?

Quote: | • I found the road a bit more than a little confusing. Don't get me wrong, I understand what the special panels do: they absorb the magic particles in the air so that new monsters don't spawn and endanger travelers. However, we've already seen what happens to monsters when they are robbed of their connection to magic—so aren't the people of Tempest just weakening themselves? |
It seemed more like an excess kind of thing to me. They're reducing it just enough to not negatively affect humans, but not enough to negatively affect them.

• I didn't realize that Veldora was a ticking time bomb but, if that's an issue, what's to stop him from heading out over the ocean and releasing his power for a bit? |
Or how about just firing a magic beam straight up into the air every so often? It doesn't seem like something that should be of much concern to me either based on how it was described.

• I'm somewhat confused as to why Rimuru even sees Hinata as a threat. He was able to fight toe-to-toe with her in their first battle, and that was before he became a Demon Lord. Trauma, maybe? |
It's been a while since I watched that fight, but didn't she get within one hit of destroying his soul? I think she had to hit him 7 times and hit him 6...
I think he's still not sure of his current strength and the field she deployed might still have an effect on him, nerfing him again to normal levels.
So she essentially could still have the ability to destroy him regardless of all of his defenses and abilities.
But yeah, trauma is probably the root cause making him very cautious. She's basically the only one he's ever had any challenge with in a direct fight and he almost lost.

If anybody's finding this a bit dry, don't worry...
If we get enough seasons, there's an entire light novel that's just the author listing the stats, abilities and power levels of the major characters (and admitting in the epilogue that his editor advised him not to).

Majin it's a catch all term for humanoid monsters.

Oh I remember this and I would love to see everyone's reaction if or when it hits the screen
Brace yourselves because this rematch is just the beginning of a series of absurdly OP moments that would make a lot of people question what the point of the fight even was besides a visual spectacle

Business Meetings: The Anime!
Though it was kind of amusing how Hinata is actually being reasonable and mature and doesn't want to fight Rimuru again...but the plot (and possibly an edited video) is going force her to.
So Diablo isn't infallible.

Regarding this random thought from the article:
Quote: | I'm somewhat confused as to why Rimuru even sees Hinata as a threat. He was able to fight toe-to-toe with her in their first battle, and that was before he became a Demon Lord. |
It is always best to assume one hasn't seen all of an opponent's capabilities in a single battle, especially one where they didn't lose.
It also has to keep in mind he doesn't want to kill her, while she had no such restriction in their first battle, and he has no information at this point that would indicate that has changed.
