I mean, I can kind of see it but I also can't see a live-action film being as visually stunning as the anime was.

Hmm, not sure how to feel. 5 Centimeters Per Second is my personal favorite film, and I also quite like the supplementary material out there (manga, novels). I guess if this live-action take is good, then that's great -- and if not, no big deal.
This reminds me, shortly after Your Name, there was an announcement of a Hollywood live-action film for that being made. Wondering if that never got off the ground?

She moves away first, then he moves much further away later.

Doh! I somehow forgot why he goes on a train trip in the first chapter 
Since I've obviously don't remember it as well as I thought, this gives me an excuse to re-watch it

You're good, tbh the wording there *is* a bit off, since by that point Akari had already moved to Tochigi (a bit north of where they were in Tokyo), and the point of Takaki taking the train to go see her was because he was going to be moving soon to Kagoshima (at the bottom of Kyushu... quite a ways southeast).
