Only having a pilot script to show for yourself after 5 years is insane.
FF XIV is as edgy as XVI btw but the violence is more abstract. A proper series set in that world would need a 17+ as much as the team´s single-player game. |

Well, I maintain that FFXIV & live action series go together as well as FFXIV & obnoxious MMO youtube shoutmen. You can try & force a connection if you want but it probably won't work out in the end, and the game is probably in a better place by avoiding the association.

I forgot this was even a thing, but I can't say I'm disappointed by the outcome. Considering how high the production costs would have been, alongside the largely unproven staff, it's no real surprise the project tanked. It might have stood a better chance if they had limited their scope and tested the waters with something like a single film before trying to pitch a multi season TV series, but without major input from the FFXIV team I wouldn't have had much faith in it either way.

I think they'll try to revive it somehow later considering how big the game is compared to just before Shadowbringers.
