Great numbers for Switch software this week
- Momotaro Dentetsu is still a goldmine for Konami, a proof that they still have a healthy presence in the videogame market, for better or for worse to some. Though its success is limited to Japan, the game is too Japanese and I don't think Konami is interested to publish it worldwide; - Mario RPG Remake had the second best debut week for a Mario RPG, second only to the original '96 game, though if we factor digital sales the remake probably surpassed it; - Hogwart's Legacy did surprisingly well for a late port, in fact it sold a couple thousand more physical units than the PS4 version did; - P5 Tactica didn't do big numbers, since it had to compete with bigger titles, and it actually has the lowest numbers for an Atlus game. Just for comparison, P5 Strikers sold 115k copies on PS4 and 49k on Switch, and compared to other Persona/SMT games it sold less than Soul Hakcers 2 (51k), SMT V (134) and P5 Royal on Switch (49k). Don't know if perhaps this means the Persona 5 sub-series is declining on popularity, though a tactical RPG spin-off would've never sold that much, since it's a sort of niche genre. It also surprised me that P5T sold better on Switch than on both PS5 and PS4 combined since, for most people, the Persona series is more closely associated with PS, so much that P3R doesn't have a Switch version planned as far as we know, Atlus perhaps is wating for the Switch's successor, but I doubt we'll see a Nintendo version for a long time. |

I'm surprised Hogwarts Legacy made a splash on the sales chart.

It's not difficult as to how, the Wizarding World franchise is very popular in Japan, the Switch is still a popular console and while the developers had to make a lot, and I mean a lot, of sacrifices for the game to run on the console it seems the end result is acceptable. I can imagine that people that wanted to play the game, but don't own a more powerful console are perfectly OK with this port. |

I would like to play Momotaro Dentetsu, but as far as I know they are not localized in English, so that's a bummer.
It will be interesting to compare Super Mario RPG remake's numbers with The Thousand-Year Old Door remake's numbers because I've heard a rumor that which ever one sells the best, that's the type of Mario RPG style they will be going for in the future. Kinda torn which one I would prefer, but I might give the soft edge to Paper Mario since it has a much more unique graphic style, but it is a very soft edge. |

A slew of new releases. RGG7G will finish just outside of the top 5 in MC as it will hit a ~85% drop.
The Switch version of Tactica did as expected and outsold the PS versions. It was obvious from the moment it was announced if one knows about Persona Q. There was even Tactics Ogre last year that made it obvious, but nothing was more obvious if one knew about Persona Q. Last week, PS5 sold 107k. Now 62k. What being in stock looks like after being unavailable. It has the 2nd best hold of a HC revision release by PS even though its at a higher price. For the 9th week in a row and the 10th time overall (first time) Pikman has been overthrown factually and historically. Even slightly by Yohane. Congrats to inti creates. San, Ni, Ichi... |
