Bye bye Space Patrol Luluco 4koma manga, I know your run of 3 chapters wasn't a lot but you did your job well ♡

Hope it's legally available elsewhere!

But anyways, has anyone even USED that service for reading manga outside of maybe me reading the SPL 4koma?

Is there any hope the manga only available via this service will be rescued in some way?

Guess this saves them having to fix it, huh.

I would complain about paying more and getting less, but the Crunchyroll manga app has always been half-assed at best and likely won’t be missed.

I kept up with Arpeggio of Blue Steel. Not sure where I'll go for that. Seven Seas haven't out a new volume out in two years and it's not available on any other digital platform. Maybe this will allow that to happen now.

End of an era. This used to be THE place to recommend to read simulpub manga legally (mostly from Kodansha). I remember keeping up with a few manga series this way since I always had a Crunchyroll subscription.

The manga app has just barely been this side of complete broken for basically the last decade... And it's been nearly as long since since new manga were added in any significant number. So, I'm not entirely sure what the loss is. Yet another broken part of Crunchy's service being discontinued. Yet another failure on the Crunchy's management.

Still, it's how I discovered Orange, Sweetness & Lightning, and Grand Blue... so, I do feel a twinge of regret.

And I'll note that once again, Crunchy has failed to notify it's customers of this change.

CR doesn't own the properties so yes they'll just move to one of the many other services that are available now.

Aside from the Scum's Wish epilogue and Orange, there hadn't been anything worth worrying about for an awfully long time there, anyway.

Yup, I follow a few series on there. Some of them are available elsewhere, albeit a few chapters behind Crunchyroll's release and behind a stricter paywall. No censorship either whenever applicable. Their app was where I discovered ReLife ages ago, read Scum's Wish and its sequel, completed Spirit Circle, and Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer. It was also where I kept up with a few other series before Kodansha pulled them for its own app; such as Wave, Listen to Me! which still hasn't caught up to the CR release.

While the app deservedly catches flak for how buggy it is, I still lament its closure. Especially in the case of losing series unavailable elsewhere. Only positive is they gave us a month's notice so I can catch up on the one manga I lapsed on before the service shuts down. Beats the short notice they tend to give when losing an anime license.

The app was serviceable. It used to have a good selection of manga. But the quantity and frequency of updates has gone down hill a lot over the last 2-3 years. It is especially annoying when they posted like the first three chapters of a 70+ chapter manga, and then stopped.

It will be missed. But not a lot.

Aw, this is how I read the Talentless Nana manga... Sad

(Still hoping there's a chance it'll get a physical release one day...)
