Slightly confused. Will this just be an adaptation of the content already covered int he anime?

Yes. Compilation films might add an extra scene or 2 or maybe reanimate something, but it's 99% the same, minus what is cut or edited to fit film length.

The fact that it got compilation movies suggests that a second season is very likely. The issue is that the director is currently tied up with Frieren.

With its popularity Bocchi the rock deserve getting a dub, Crunchyroll should do a "Kaguya-sama" treatment by going back and dub the full series or just dub the compilation movie.
