Mamma mia!,Super Mario Bros. Wonder had the biggest opening week debut for a Mario game on the Switch, surpassing Mario Oddyssey which debuted at 462k, and is the third best opening week debut for a Mario platformer after New Super Mario Bros. Wii and the original NSMB on DS, which debuted at 936k and 865k respectively, though with Wonder we have to take digital sales in consideration as well, Famitsu only lists physical sales. Still, it's a great number for a a game on a console's sixth year in the market
The original Spider-Man for the PS4 debuted at 130k, while Miles Morales sold a combined 41k on both the PS4 and PS5, so Spidey 2 is an improvement in some aspects, and we also have to consider digital sale as well. It's incredible that Sonic Superstars managed to chart on the Top 10, but the Switch version (which ironically has the worst graphics) is the only one that charted. The difference between Mario and Sonic is abysmal, but Sonic always struggled in Japan despite being created there. I can't see Sonic becoming a huge franchise in its home country As for consoles sales, the Switch sold a bit better than last week at 62k, but the PS5 sold less at 8k. Don't know if Sony is trying to clear some stock before the launch of the Slim model |

Man those Mario numbers are good! I sadly don't have time for video games at the moment until the holidays but it's looking like Wonder or Mario RPG as my game of choice during that time period unless I can find a hidden gem on Steam.

The emissary from hell is back with Supaidaman 2. It looks like he's falling back deeper into hell (even after the surprising success the original had and ignoring MM not being a full game), which is in line with majority of PS5 software.
For the 5th week in a row and the 6th time overall (first time) Pikman has been overthrown factually and historically. This time by multiple titles.
You very well know that is exactly the reason. PS5 hasn't been below 30k since the week of December 5-11, 2022 (it sold 18k). Just after Jim had announced PS5 shipment issues were over worldwide. The new PS5 revision announced to immediately replace the original PS5 was announced on October 10. The same week, PS5 finally went below 30k selling 19k. The new revision model is more expensive than the current price. Now this week is 8k. So its quite obvious consumers aren't holding out for the new model and its already been stated by the usual places PS5 is sold out in (Japan) stores aside from a few bundles. |

I don't know why SEGA released Sonic Superstars the same week as Super Mario Bros Wonder. That just seems like sending the game out to die. I know Sonic isn't that huge in Japan anymore but even Frontiers did way better than this.
