Are all four chapters confirmed to be about MEM-cho? So far only the first one is.

Yeah, because his message says he was sick, and had to take a month off earlier. Because of the time lag of production and publication, that's only becoming apparent to us now that both series are going on break.

So? Authors can take vacations to play games if they want. They work hard otherwise. Refreshing is for their health too. You want them to be working exhausted all the time??

I agree but think they should just be honest and upfront about it.

What's not upfront about the reason given? He took a break for a month to recharge, and that included playing games.

Let's not act like Japan's idea of "taking a break for their health" doesn't mean a literal hospital stay. Japan needs to normalize explicitly saying they're taking a vacation and not expecting their artists/authors, hell; their entire workforce from working themselves to death.

Okay, quick question: do you actually - personally - know why he took a break? As the article states, he literally just shared that he took a break for a month for his health and has returned to work, but people are using a future release of a video game and the fact that he's currently (after returning from his break) playing that game as examples of him being dishonest. Do you know that he didn't visit the hospital in the month he was off? Or do you have evidence of him playing video games, as though exhausted people aren't allowed entertainment in their recovery time?

We don't know what kind of break he is taking and we don't have to. They're not upfront about it because it is not socially acceptable for a mangaka to take breaks "just" to refresh. Yet. Blame the Japanese otakus who want their chapter every week because they're "customers".
People look at you weirdly at your workplace when you go home on time if you don't have anything to really justify it (doctor's appointment, children to pick up etc.). Even a basic hair cut appointment is not a "good reason". The "me time" is not in the culture yet.
They have a really low productivity rate. But they don't understand what is "wrong" about this kind of thinking. And foreigners don't have the right to impose their views on their system (they can have an opinion, though ) even if not changing their system is deemed detrimental to them. The societal change has to come from the new generation of Japanese workers.

It's also possible that whatever health problem he may be dealing with prevents him from making deadlines, but does not prevent him from streaming Apex Legends? For example, regular doctor appointments can be super disruptive to your schedule, but they don't necessarily prevent you from doing fun things.
