Maybe worth clarifying: both the Tweet and the listing on the festival site seem to indicate that Annecy will show material from the film, but (apparently) not the whole film. I'm guessing it's still in production.

Oh man, I am so pumped for this, I can't even tell ya. Long time LotR fan (first read the trilogy back in the 1970s) and big anime fan. Mixing the two is my equivalent of "your chocolate is in my peanut butter! No, your peanut butter is in my chocolate!" My apologies to all those too young to understand that reference (i.e most of you).

One thing does confuse me, however. I'm not sure where the adventures of Helm Hammerhand fall in the Middle-earth timeline, but presumably they far predate the birth of Éowyn, who is a young woman when the remains of the Fellowship show up in Rohan just prior to the battle of Helm's Deep. The article indicates she is a narrator in the film so I have to assume her character doesn't actually play any kind of active role in the events of the film. If there's any LotR-head out there that can clarify this for me, thanks in advance.

The events in the upcoming movie predate the War of the Ring by several centuries.
Eowyn will most definitely not be playing a role in the timeline of Helm Hammerhand but serving as a narrator and (I speculate) maybe some sort of framing device for that story that takes place in the timeline of Eowyn.
