I really like this series "atmosphere", that weird felling as if everything was a dream.

That's a really hard effect to attain, the only other series I know that has the same effect on me it's Aria.

By the way, I like to explain Chise's situation as that scene in the Simpsons when the doctor tells Burns that he has so many sickness all of them are in balance keeping him alive.

It's nice to have the show back and it feeling like the production hasn't missed a beat! Especially as Chise and Elias head to Hogwarts!

Even after a change of Anime studio from Wit to Kafka!

Another studio, but the people working on it are basically the same.

Other than the person writing and directing it?

It was fun watching Chise meet Rahab. Kind of a mother/grandmother-in-law meeting, and it shed a lot of insight into Elias and how he came to be, as well as his conception of things/ideas.

Also, more Kotono Mitsuishi is never a bad thing.

Chise and Elias have far from a conventional "marriage" or relationship, but what they have works for them and it's clear how much they care and cherish one another.

Yeah, um...I don't think they'll be using that shortcut much, if they can help it.

Chise wants to just have a relatively normal (magic) college experience, but the plots of the other characters might make that harder for her...

After what they went through to establish it, I think they'll be using it daily or at least weekly (not sure how often they'd normally leave the school, since Chise at least has a room there).

Tiny Elias is cutest Elias.

That was a really enjoyable review to read, eloquent and somewhat poetic, but not ostentatiously so. Just many evocative and well-chosen words. Very Happy

I have no problems with this episode taking the time out to delve more into Chise and Elias’s thoughts on their relationship. That being said, I am peeved at how drawn out this season seems like it will be. Can we at least get a better idea of what the conflict this season is going to be? All we have so far is a bunch of seemingly paranoid jumpy people.

Given that this show is set in Britain I couldn't help but laugh at how a Telephone Booth was an entrance to another Dimension. I can't help but wonder if that's a shout-out to Dr. Who and the TARDIS, or is just sheer coincidence. Very Happy

Placing yourself in mortal danger just to avoid waking up early to go to school.

Sounds like something I would do.

Of all the strange creatures and fairies of folklore to draw from, I didn't expect the hounds of Tindalos to be one.

Isaac seems like a very nice young man, but considering they didn't bother to give him a face, and his main job through this episode is to provide exposition, I suspect we won't be getting any deep or serious backstory from him.

There is actually a reason for Isaac never fully showing his face, so it's not a directorial choice, but yeah, don't expect much here. He's essentially the Normal Guy in the company of extremes.

I've read all but the last volume of this arc in the manga (which isn't out yet in English), and I think the anime has done a quite proficient job of adapting this arc so far. The school as a bubbling cauldron of insecurities, trauma, and familial tensions is arguably coming through even better in anime form.

It's nice to see Chise getting to better know her classmates and beginning to strike up some friendships, albeit with some effort, even though there's a lot of drama between her classmates because of their backgrounds and families.

Maybe it's because I'm watching both shows but I can't unsee the similarities between Lucy and Chise and Miorine and Suletta in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. Lucy reminds me a lot of Miorine.

From many years of viewing anime, the Japanese appear to have very different relationships with their roofs. Many, many conversations happen sitting on rooftops. A rooftop is a place to escape to for privacy. Probably just for cool breezes in the summer....

It even shows up in schools (and Alice has her own conversation with Renfred on the subterranean rooftop of the magical college, with its simulated sky).

I have noticed a trend of making your characters talk in resent drama manga to avoid crappy manufactured drama.

If you watch a drama, you want quality drama, no "I said "your" instead of "you're" and now my girlfriend left me before I could explain" 90s garbage and I couldn't be happier.

That being said, I get how conflictive Renfred and Alice relationship can be for the "Wizard factor", now they have a father-daughter one, but, in 10 years Renfred will look the same and Alice will be way on her 20s and I have the feeling Renfred is concerned of him falling for her and feeling he groomed her and that idea bothers him.

I would like if the series touches that later because its quite the etic dilemma.
