If they're not announcing the format outright, I'm guessing a movie.
Great news, by the way.

It was only a matter of time. See you soon LycoReco, hopefully with another ClariS opening.

It felt inevitable with the series' popularity and success. Cool!

It seems Lycoris Recoil truly became one of big new anime of 2020s.

All I hope for the creators is to really take the time to understand what worked in the show and made it popular (mainly Chisato and Takina and their dynamic relationship) and not fall into the trap of emphasizing the wrong parts and dooming the IP. Because let's be honest, this show has unexpectedly set the yuri fandom momentum that then continued to Gundam: The Witch from Mercury and now presumably Magical Revolution, and next spring will be a 1-2-3 punch with Season 2 of Gundam, Season 2 of Birdie Wing, and Yuri is My Job!

Lycoris Recoil is a great anime series that it my opinion does not need more content. I hope that for the sake of its biggest fans Aniplex does not ruin this property.

Glad to know that LycoReco will continue either if it is a movie or a 2nd season, though much prefer the latter.

I did enjoyed Lycoris Recoil, it was my last anime series for 2022 since I finished it on New Year's Eve. Also, Takina's Hot Choco Parfait a.k.a. poop parfait, looked delicious as long as you don't make Takina mad.

Yeah, that's my guess. I'd probably prefer S2, but since they didn't say that it's probably a movie.

Agreed. The clandestine organisation stuff was interesting enough (gaping plot holes and all), but it wasn't why the show was a runaway hit. The dynamics of the cast (obviously Chisato and Takina, but Walnut/Kurumi, Fuki and Majima were also an important part of it... though I think it'd be a little weird to keep Majima around. I think we need a new antagonist that is as interesting and complex as he was but different). It's hard to bottle lightning, and it'd definitely be easy to get it wrong 2nd time around.

I hope you're not talking about those yuri shippers who got so mad they send death threats to the Lycoris Recoil production staff for not getting their yuri ending. I'd hate to see G-Witch staff go through that if we end up with a Guel or Shaddiq ending.
Lycoris Recoil was an amazing show but that part of the fandom was so toxic and really put a black mark on the community.

May be an unpopular opinion, but having finally just finished the show yesterday it really wasn't that good, a definite case of good production values blinding people to the glaring issues. The alan foundation subplot added pretty much nothing to the narrative in the grand scheme of things, nobody really loses anything or has to personally grow other than Mika (and Takina to some extent, but as the second MC her growth was much less pronounced than it should've been, she took a total backseat in the second half) and Majima's ambitions being dashed to fulfill the safe japanese status quo was a disappointment. Very pretty show and decently entertaining characters but the entire thing falls apart if you think about it for even two seconds

The main reason why most people loved this show was because of Chisato and Takina, not production values. Specially since it's not even remotely close to being the best animated A-1 Pictures anime.
Also, a person can acknowledge a show's issues and still love it. Doesn't necessarily mean they got "blinded".
