Hey, have never posted on these boards before, so apologies in advance if anything is a faux pas.

I am a big participant in the vocaloid scene and while I was excited for the prospect of GUMI and #KZN performing in my hometown, I'm honestly not super surprised by this news and was curious if anyone out there knew of the history of Anime Entertainment LLC, where this project came from, or their previous productions.

The original announcement felt like it appeared from nowhere and each tour contained an incredible amount of scheduled venues, which initially piqued my curiosity, and contributed to my uncertainty. Still, the venues I recognized were well reputed and for the most part the names on the tour are well-known, so there must be some kind of existing effort behind the project. Does anyone have any extra info on this?

Their first twitter post was barely 3 months ago, so this seems to be their first attempted event (or tour). Besides that, I'm mostly mystified by it. They cancelled it before I got around to figuring out what it was; descriptions on ticket sites were pretty vague.

The main "production issue" seems to be that they sold nowhere near as many tickets as they expected. But I can't tell who sponsored this, or why they were so overly optimistic about its appeal. (They seemed to think it would somehow be more popular than Miku Expo, even though none of those characters are recognizable to the average Western anime fan except maybe Gumi, and this is a brand-new event). If it reappears in the US, it'll probably be scaled back considerably.

The venues listed closest to me list it as cancelled, not postpone or any indication of a future date. One still had the prices listed beginning at $103.00 and going all the way up to $500.00. Certainly not cheap by any means.

Glad it wasn't just me who found this whole thing kind of odd. It just sprang out of nowhere and seemed very mysterious. It seemed like it was aimed at Vtuber fans and Vocaloid fans but the choices of acts were not very... notable, I guess.

Scheduling for that many venues is pretty insane, even if this is presumably pre-recorded.
