Man, talk about an end of an era. Putting aside any future speculation of the Crunchyroll buyout with Kleckner no longer running RightStuf, I wish him nothing but the best in the future! RightStuf has always been my shopping destination of choice not too long after first really getting into anime/manga due to their sales and great word-of-mouth. Even just yesterday I was able to get some replacement items that were missing from a pre-ordered boxset without me having to ship the box back or anything, which was very much appreciated. I also remember really enjoying whenever he'd make an appearance on old podcast episodes for end-of-the-year sales wrap ups.

As been said, the end of an era. The writing really was on the wall after the buyout. The man has earned a well earned retirement, if he so chooses. Best of luck for his future.

Thank you Shawne for all you've done for the anime fandom and industry and for all the years running the best source for buying anime.

Oh jeez. I thought he’d at least stay until Dirty Pair and Macross were out the door. I hope everything’s okay with him.

End of an era indeed. I wonder what's next for him, if he'll try another anime venture or move into a different industry. Or if he'll simply take his money and retire. I'd love to see ANN do a post mortem interview with him like Zac used to do on the ANNcast.

I would assume that Nozomi is winding down, and their remaining titles will simply be put out by Crunchyroll. There probably isn't a lot left for him to do as Crunchyroll takes control of the company.

Right Stuf will never be the same and hopefully not for the worse, but we all know how these things usually go.

Several, possibly all non-Gundam, Nozomi titles got removed from Crunchyroll's streaming library in August 2022. Weird coincidence...

Best of luck in what comes next, Shawne. You built a great company, and you and your staff leave behind many very satisfied customers.

CR's trurning into a conglomerate. How soon before they buy out Sentai Filmworks, and end up the ONLY anime distributor.

AMC Networks just bought Sentai so that probably won’t happen anytime soon unless there is more going on with AMC then they are letting on with their recent reorganization.

I think I still have one of those personalized cards from Right Stuf hoping my shopping experience was a positive one. This was around 2017/2018 if I remember correctly.

On the other hand, on my recent $400 order, one of the Bleach parts came completely empty, no discs in the box. It didn't even have the cardboard cover, but was shrink wrapped. Right Stuf customer service still made me return a ~$24 (part of the holiday sale) empty box at my expense (shipping back was ~$11) to get a replacement. As if I haven't been a customer since 2014 with several thousands spent. This was even my first time asking for a replacement, ever.
The last time I was this frustrated with Right Stuf was when they performed an unauthorized transaction against my credit card retroactively on one of my orders when they split my shipping of that order. I promptly removed my CC from my account since I evidently can't trust them. This was also around 2017.

Truly the end of an era! Thanks to Shawne for keeping it real as someone in charge of such a major anime distributor & I hope after his departure is finalized we see him still engaging in the community here & there.
