The first Capcom vs SNK is highly underrated, it's one of the few DC fighter games I think that plays well on the original DC controller. The music is top notch and the backgrounds are high res 2d goodness.

Oh wow, can't believe Capcom vs SNK 2 is only coming out 69 years from now!

Really looking forward to:

SNK Vs Capcom 3.
I think that the current SNK could really nail it.

And a re-release of Capcom Vs SNK 2.
I *love* that game, and it's currently locked to my PS3 (along with Marvel Vs Capcom 2...)
It'd be awesome to get a regular release, as Capcom has been doing a lot of good work recently with their re-releases of old titles like the Capcom Fighting Collection.

And honestly, I think that with the direction that Capcom is going these days, I'm less excited about a Capcom Vs SNK 3. The art style in King of Fighters XV is more exciting to me than what they're going for in Street Fighter 6.

Now that's what we call an awful take. I guess some people simply don't want nice things in their lifes.

It's so funny how quickly all this stuff is happening after Ono left.

And it all started with Street Fighter V's last season which wasn't even supposed to happen.

Not to mention ironic considering how SNK fans (not all of them) have been complaining about their newer games not using traditional 2D sprites.

Also depending on where they go with a potential crossover it would use any one of the two styles.

People seem to forget that in addition to the Capcom vs SNK duology there was also SvC Chaos all games used specific sprite styles.

Good news but can they pull this? I remember the reason for Tekken X Street Fighter's cancelation was due to Namco wanted to focus on their own IP in order to compete wth Street Fighter V. At least I think Harada mentioned that.

It's cool that both companies seem to be on board with a new game, though it seems like SNK is the one willing to make it. Ideally, it'd be better if a team consisting of developers from both companies would work in the game together, taking all of the best parts from Capcom vs. SNK and those from SvC. I know SvC: Chaos has problems and it's not as fun as Capcom vs. SNK 2, but despite being rushed, the roster in SvC was much more creative than Capcom's games, because Capcom vs. SNK was basically Street Fighter vs. KOF, the only non SF character was Morrigan (Kyosuke doesn't count because Rival Schools takes place in the same universe as SF and Final Fight), while SNK had some characters from Samurai Shodown and The Last Blade. SvC had some surprises like Firebrand, Zero, Tessa, Mars People, the original Athena, and they even considered including Dante.
The things I'd like to see in a new crossover between the two companies is that the characters have interactions between each other, a proper story mode, 3 on 3 versus battles, characters from non-fighting games being playable, etc.

I would definately prefer 2D sprites but KoF's 3D isn't bad either. I just want to see this actually happen

It seems like the market these days can only juggle so many fighting games at a time, so it's easy to see why this format has fallen by the wayside. Especially after Namco never ended up making their Tekken x Street Fighter.

Whose assets were apparently partly used in Tekken 7 with Akuma's appearance - which gets at how the other factor here, that companies can basically reach the same cross promotional benefits from just having a guest character or two.

Still, SNK vs Capcom / Capcom vs SNK is so well liked and long desired among fighting game fans as a brand, it does have value as a way to excite people again. Not unlike when Street Fighter or Marvel vs Capcom came back after a long hiatus...and if Capcom really doesn't have access to the latter any time soon, then you can see how CvS is useful.

It might as well count as it’s not like Rival Schools has been dropping titles with the same regularity as Monster Hunter or Resident Evil. Not to mention if you’re going to exclude Rival Schools because it shares space with other series does that mean you’re going to exclude Fatal Fury & Mark Of The Wolves which share space with Art Of Fighting?

Hopefully this leads to maybe a HD remaster of Capcom vs SNK 1 & 2. Hopefully maybe a new entry in Capcom vs SNK in the near future.

hey, I hope no one forgets Saudi Arabia owns SNK now amidst this seemingly good news. You know the despotic, backwater hellhole ruled by an insane authoritarian regime that encourages cannibalism, rape of women, no basic rights for said women, torture, committed 9/11 and got off on a 1 in million loophole, as well as murdering an American on our soil as recently as the 2010s.

Seriously, that's a mouthful on the "evil checklist" but it's only a fraction of what more I could say. Supporting SNK now is endorsing that shit, and people should at least know where you have the freedom to know without going to jail for 40 years or worse.

I wouldn't want Capcom to collaborate with them to be complicit by proxy since I like some of their products as it is.
