Is One Punch Man supposed to be crossed out in the headline?

Ah, it's a formatting error, but we fixed it.

Hopefully the bald headed actor Lin works with is less of a headache than Vin Diesel was.

I wonder if they realise that one punch has negative connotations in some western countries as an assault term. (To punch someone from behind rendering them unconscious with high risk of possible death)
It might have issues with PR teams.

I feel like Hollywood is overestimating the popularity of One Punch Man for something like this.

A lot more of these are announced then are made. My assumptions is they are gauging interest and doing the usual hollywood style trying out script doctored concepts with focus groups thing.
I do wonder if hollywood could possibly keep elements such as: A bald somewhat plain to ugly main character, heroes with faults such as a puri puri prisoner. And A hero who is extremely bored with what he is doing to the point that the last boss doesnt elicit emotions from him past the occasional slight amusement, he gets more excited over discount beef.

I honestly don't see it doing well. What makes One Punch Man so funny is how they animate Saitama's facial expressions. I don't see many actors able to pull that off effortlessly. Also, anime fans are far more critical and usually prefer the animation or manga in comparison to comic book fans who love .
I understand why they chose to adapt it since One Punch Man has a more western sensibility, he's a comedic superhero, but not sure how it would do in comparison to the Western superhero movies.

Dammit I want season 3, nothing good ever comes with making a live action version from the anime

Which western countries? I've never heard of this phrase before the manga so I doubt the general public will have.
And I don't think Sony is overestimating the popularity of OPM in the west at all. The manga is regularly at or near the top of sales reports, even as recently as the fall 2021 report where it was #2 in sales dollars and #1 in sales volume. That's pretty good for a manga that has 20+ volumes released, that means it's retaining a high level of interest. Is it on par with a Marvel or DC comic? Probably not, but those movies are produced by the parent company that owns them rather than licensed like OPM so it doesn't really matter.
I think this movie could do really well, if it's made, as long as they leave the story as simple as the manga makes it. No complex origin story, no forced love interest, just have Saitama showing up to destroy things and save the day, leave the real action sequences to the other heroes. Basically just follow the manga, it was written to be able to jump into easily in the first place.

I love One Punch Man… but I am pretty negative on live-action adaptations of manga/anime most of the time.
This is one of those times.

I wonder what happened to the live-action Lone Wolf and Cub Lin was attached to. He also copped to Tokyo Drift being inspired by Initial D when I asked, but is that enough?

Well, as a former F&F director, he should have Vin Diesel's number... Joking aside, I have my usual reservations about an episodic story being adapted to film. Plus, the movie would have to fall into the big budget blockbuster territory to have any hope of pulling off the over the top fight scenes with all the required CGI, and I don't know if a studio would want to sink that kind of cash into it right now.

Also, what happened to the live-action St. Seiya? Did it get the '94 Fantastic Four treatment?

James Gunn or Taika Waititi's style both fits OPM. hope Justin is able to bring the comedy, parody and the love to this project.
