Man, I can't tell if she loves her fans that much or if she fears them. It sounds like she really wants this to be amazing... but I swear if she gets on stage dressed as Mugi-Mugi someone damm well better have a video camera to record it and slap it on YouTube!

What the crap, I am skipping all appearances today to prepare for a concert I probably won't sing in.....I mean is she sick or her throat hurt? That really a bummer for the folks who really want to just to meet her, even more of a bummer if she can't perform.

Gee, seeing how everything has been either delayed or cancelled that doesn't surprise me I had been hoping to go, but unfortunately having to watch out for my drunk friend last night took a toll on my sleep. Maybe that was a good thing.

Or maybe she is just an arrogant, spoiled diva who take advantage of the free vacation to the USA

I just got back from the Momoi panel a little while ago (front row, got there 2 hours early), and God, this news was fast.
She does want to be amazing. She loves her fans. She was actually in tears by the end of the panel when she met one of her American fans who she has known online for 10 years. Everybody was up giving her gifts (including me), and she broke out crying. She had an autograph book that she wanted to get signed by all of her American fans (which I signed). I was also amazed that we had fans of her coming from Japan to go to this concert that were at the panel. They were handing out books that they made specifically for the concert and the clapping, cheering, and other movements to be done during it. It is actually a pretty extensive book. If this doesn't prove her connection to her fans and vice versa, I don't know what will.
No, she isn't sick, she just needs to prepare, and she really wants it to be a great concert. And if the autograph session is canceled then so be it. I would have loved an autograph, but she feels she needs to prepare for the concert, so I guess that's it (and I don't want all that crap that happened at the SOS Brigade concert to happen there as well, so I see this being a good thing that she needs to prepare). If all goes well, this concert has the potential to be "legendary".
Ah, I can see this coming from some other seiyuu possibly, but not from Halko. She is extremely attached to her fans as well as her fans being attached to her. This was extremely evident by the panel. |

Thanks for the explanation. I guess I can understand her feelings after what you say. I just really mind your one line...
Like which seiyuu exactly do you think would be like this and can you give me a reason why you think this way? |

PantsGoblin is the most devoted Halko fan I know and probably the ANN member with the biggest reputation of being a devoted fan of this amazing musical artist. That may seem like he's biased but in truth he knows her better than pretty much any overseas fan in North America and I honestly believe every word of the type of relationship that Halko Momoi and her biggest fans have. I know for a fact that there are other seiyuu and J-pop artists who are not as warm, open and devoted to their own fans like they are to them and that's a shame. I am a Halko fan myself and I've seen her interact with her fans and it is something truly special. When I was reading the news about her cancellation there's no doubt in my mind it wasn't an issue with Halko as I immediately (but can't confirm) got the impression a certain AX staff made a mistake (probably miscommunication of some sort). |

I don't want to mention any names in particular. I just know some seiyuu who aren't exactly as nice as they seem to be. Reason is because I have either met them in person and they weren't as understanding of fans, or I just know from inside information I have heard from others who have met them.
Thank you. But I think you're giving me too much credit. I honestly love Halko and am a huge fan of hers. I own pretty much every CD she has released (save some of the ultra rare, hard to obtain ones). But when I was standing in line there, I can tell she had some seriously hard-core fans that I just simply couldn't compare to. I mean like, she had some of her fans from Japan fly out to see her ( many of her Japanese fans I am completely out of their league). There was a bunch of fans who flew out from the East coast as well. Including Paranda and Mandichan. Both I would consider to be bigger American Halko fans than I am (thankfully, they are both extremely nice people in person as well, I absolutely hate huge fans who are condescending to lesser fans if they don't know as much).
Actually, she said she was going to do that one at the Opening Ceremonies. It just wasn't mentioned in the report here or in the program guide. |

I wonder if Halko will perform "your gravitation". It's probably the most recent anime song she's done, and would be a nice contrast to something like Oyasumi.

well, if you say so i understand. i really like seiyuus therefore i felt a little bit offended when you made the statement. but since you have personal experience... and i do believe not all of them would be as friendly and understanding... *sigh* wish i'd have chances to get in touch with seiyuus like u guys... *sigh* hope everything goes well with momoi-san's concert =) OH, btw, if someone can translate her blog entry, maybe we'll know more about what's actually happening (her story) blog.tsutaya.co.jp/momo-i/8494 blog.tsutaya.co.jp/momo-i/8495 |

Quick (and crappy) translation:
Most of her feelings and such were covered in the post about her panel; however she starts expressing a lot of frustration with the planning and a seeming lack of professionalism (my belief why she cancelled everything was to ensure that the concert would go off well). Also, she notes specifically: アニメエキスポは……ひどかったよ。 アニメやそれに関わる人に対するリスペクトが全く感じられなかった。 (anime expo was .... terrible) (I couldn't feel respect from the people involved in anime at all) She also says she's looking forward to returning to Japan and was really overwhelmed at some of her (previously mentioned) highly dedicated fans. However, in her latest post she sounds a bit more upbeat saying that the soundcheck went off fine and that she was finally able to meet with and express her desires for the concert and AX staff understood and were doing everything they could to make it go off well.

I don't think that's even close to possible for AX. They almost always handle big events horribly. |
