I just finished the anime and it was wonderful, so I loved reading this interview. It's really interesting that a manga like Rose of Versailles became a stage show.
I love how the anime was usually upbeat but also handled serious subjects and did them really well and compassionately.

Love to see more Kageki Shoujo content and this was a pretty detailed, thorough interview!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I just finished watching the series last night and it left a big ol' smile on my face. I wish there was more.

I'm only on episode 4 because I'm watching the dub, but the show has been absolutely fantastic so far. This interview was a great read.

Honestly I'm just content to legally stream an anime most of the time, but Kageki Shojo!! is one time I'll be buying the eventual home video release. Such a great show, and I really hope we get a season 2. I also strongly recommend everyone who loved it to read the manga.

The first record that was ever bought for me that wasn't a children's fable or an anime was the Takarazuka Revue's stage performance of The Rose of Versailles. I've always liked drawing, but because of my exposure to The Rose of Versailles, I started drawing it over and over again. Looking back, I get the feeling that was when it all started; it was how I became fated to become a manga artist later.
The Rose of Versailles never gets any less interesting no matter how many times you read it, but as I've gotten older, I've come to understand each of the characters better, and I've been able to appreciate it on a deeper level. It's an absolute masterpiece, so I want everyone who hasn't read it yet to try it out for themselves. |
This. I finally got around to watching Versailles a couple years ago, and it still holds up incredibly well. So happy to finally own it on Blu-Ray.

Not going to lie, this made me tear up a little. :') I'd be the same way!
