Spiderman, spiderman, does whatever a spider can.
Er, this is kind of cool though only moderately interesting. It would have been news is Spiderman 3 hadn't taken the top, considering it's been scoring record numbers so far overseas and racked up well over $100 million here, but as it is this isn't much of surprise.

Hell it nearly broke the record for the best opening weekend with two days, I'd imagine that it's going to have quite a drop off considering the mix reviews, I don't think it's going to have the same staying power....not to mention that for the next two weeks there are big name movies coming out.

True, they are going to have some harsh competition this month with movies like Shrek coming out, there will be some serious loss in the coming weeks. Where as the previous two were released during lulls in the box office and ran for months in the top spot.
Also with most signs pointing to the majority of the cast leaving before the next movie this might be the last super blockbuster Spiderman.
Though as previously mentioned they made $100 million in the states alone already......they could buy a small country with that kind of money.

So anyone wanna bitch about the dance sequences ruining the movie and the chracter development being hurt through the introduction of three villains?

In school today I heard people discussing how horrible the movie was. Crazy that it did so well in theaters.

Hype and expectations sold the tickets. The previous two movies were awesome and the public suspected that this was no exception. This movie will slow down and then loose it when Pirates of the Carribean(sp?) comes out. Still, it's a good movie. Just the hype and high expectation, not to mention different views and pacing really hurt the movie.

Exactly. The film was just way overhyped. Not that that could have been avoided though, with the success of the first two phenomenal films.
I was disappointed with Spidey, but I did mange to avoid being totally crushed by keeping my expectations much lower than they had been originally due to the mixed reviews. I liked it, but it's good, not great. It just isn't as refined as the first two. They tried too hard to make it funny (it ended up being just plain campy) and they threw character development out the window with the three villains. Just stick with one villain, and don't force the humor and the MJ/Peter conflict why don't ya? It worked wonders for the first two films. I should have known that the film was going to pale in comparison to the first two after Danny Elfman left.[/mini-rant]
Keeping my expectations super high even after reading reviews is a mistake that won't make again after my terrible reaction to Pirates 2. Now that was just awful (the movie itself wasn't awful, just in comparison to the first film).

The dancing thing was supposed to show how he suddenly became "evil", because he wasn't "himself". Yeah, I know it's cheesy, but not as much as those Bat-nipples.
