So far the cast of Speed Racer only includes high octane talent. Speed Might win yet another race, the box office championship of 2008.

They certainly have lined up a good cast, so at very least it should be something that a lot of effort is being put into. Of course, good casts have been in bad movies before.

Damn Ricci is in this now too? This movies really has some interesting casting decision.....Emile as Speed I guess I could see it, Ricci not a bad a choice, John Goodman were starting to swing, and time for the out of the blue pick Susan Saradon. I wonder if Vince still wants to be Racer X.

Christina Ricci has a huge forehead though. Makes it look like she has a receding hairline. But in a weird sort of way with that big head, small chin to a point, do you think she kinda resembles an anime character brought to life? Haha

Good Cast doesnt mean squat if the screenwriter and/or director suck Every one of them have starred in their fair share of stinkers.

Dragon: Plus if the Wachowskis could screw up V for Vendetta, I'm worried Speed Racer will fare.

This may turn out to be ok...None of the people mentioned are bad actors. Vince Vaughn is pretty good but, can he pull off a serious role? John Goodman is a great actor, considering his role in the Babe Ruth bio-pic a number of years ago. I can't recall all what Susan Sarandon has been in though. Emille Hirsch is a total newbie I understand so hopefully he turns out to be good and not another Hayden Christensen *shudder*. Christina Ricci was hot in Sleepy Hollow so, I'll go for her as Trixie. I'm just kinda afraid of the Wachowski's. They haven't directed anything outside of the Matrix trilogy so, I'm a little up in the air about their ability to pull off something like Speed Racer which has a lot more family appeal than the Matrix. I don't wanna see another cartoon come to life like Scooby-Doo or the Flintstones. I'd like to see it as a serious take on Speed Racer with all the spy/James Bond esque trappings that made the original series so cool.

As much as like Ricci, this film is probably going to suck, unless they can make it look like either the original show or the Japanese remake done a few years ago.

LeoKnight: Frankly, I'd be more annoyed, if they turned Speed Racer
into another Spy Kids/CodyBanks/Stormbreaker. They should make it like The Fast and the Furious, but we'll probably get stuck with another Herbie Fully Loaded. *sigh* Oh, and Sarandon=Janet Weiss from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".

It probably will be a fast and the furious type of thing. But I expect all sorts of political and religious conspiracy theories in there as well, since that's something the Wachowskis love to do.

That's a matter of opinion of course, I personally love the movie while I had trouble getting through the graphic novel.
I really wonder what's wrong with fandom sometimes, everyone is so pessimistic about things. No one likes to consider the possibility that something might be good.

I am wishing with all my heart () that we'll here good that Lindsay Lohan has joined on to race against Speed, then we have the family movie of the year . This movie can't be worse that the other Redline.....can it?

I've considered the possibility, I just don't think it's very likely. After all I couldn't even stand the original. I always wanted to see the kid and his chimp get bumped out of the trunk at high speed. In the middle of a race. In a thick fog. With oil all over the track. There are just so many things I hated about that show and about racing in general. I've met people who really enjoy auto racing, even to the point of saving up all year so they can take the family to one single NASCAR race and, well, they just plain think different than other folks. Anyway, I'll just leave it at that.

If you didn't like the original (which I haven't seen, for the record), then I don't see why you would like this adaptation. That doesn't mean the adaptation itself will necessarily be bad however, it just isn't your thing.
