As to be expected, even from the two currently producing vaccines and the third one that was just recently announced, we're still a bit short on time for herd immunity to take effect by the summer rolls around. As vaccine numbers increase throughout the late winter to spring, mid-late summer onwards (timewise) will be way better to be enjoyed as if this pandemic never happened. And holding a mini event of some sort - a Comic-Con Intl: America - event in November would be a breath of fresh air to enjoy after this long and arduous pandemic will be put to rest, in a somewhat slightly reduced situation that is no more harmful than the common cold.
As for NYCC - and any Fall/Winter cons post Summer, it'll be in a much better situated position to hold an in-person event (albeit at a 50-75% reduced capacity, depending on the positive rate at that time vs vaccine numbers) as its always been held during the Indigenous People's four-day weekend in October. And I can't wait to go this year as it'll be a sign of fresh air that NY is 100% reopened after a long 19 or so months of being in a semi-open state with only Broadway and conventions being one of the last businesses that have yet gotten the green light to be reopened in any capacity whatsoever. |
