Well it appears that GITS:SSS won't be the first anime released in region one to have a blueray version of the movie. Oh well I already pre-ordered the special edition, but I do have lots of friends who I know want this on blueray.

I bought the UK edition and used handbrake to rip it onto a DVD so I could watch it non region. Actually, if you have a Mac you can swith your region up to 6 times before it permenatly changes. It's a hassle but I refused to watch it with subtitles.
Any word on if this is going to be dubbed?

As far as I know, the original cast were used for the English dub. So the ever-excellent Mary Elizabeth McGlynn is back as the Major, Richard Epcar is back as Batou, and Crispin Freeman is back as Togusa. The others have returned as well, I just haven't named them all.
But we're going to get the same high quality from these voice actors as we did with the series. SOMETHING TO CHEER ABOUT!!
I have July 3rd marked on my calendar. I need my GitS fix. It's been too long and rewatching SAC and 2nd GIG just isn't the same.

Pity. GITS would have made an excellent HD production.
Guess it is back to waiting for Bebop.
