The highlight for me was getting a 100% Shadow Mewtwo. Still wish I got a shiny Unown though

Well, you had way better luck than me... total shinies for day 1 was also 3, but two of those I already had several of (Houndour and Growlithe). Day 2 turned up 7, but some of those were repeats as well; though I finally got a shiny Sableye after literal years of searching. No unowns, only one of the 3 starters. No Marowak or Exeggutor (aren't those higher-than-normal rate in general?)

Overall, it just didn't seem worth the money. I've had better experiences with PoGo events that cost nothing, and that $15 felt like a cash grab; this can't have cost them nearly as much as a normal Go Fest since there was no actual venue or anything, and they surely made much more money off it for the same reason. (Yes, they donated a lot of it--but remember, corporations don't donate money just to be nice, they do it for the tax breaks.)

I think the first mistake that many players made was expecting GoFest shiny rates when the event was about half the price of previous GoFests/Safari Zones (excluding the free ones like the one in Taiwan). I knew that Niantic wasn't about to give a good chunk of their player base easy access to so many shinies since they're a business and they still want to make money off raid passes and incubators. Higher priced events usually correlates into higher shiny rates, so the lower rate makes perfect sense. It would have been nice if Niantic had explained that the rate would be lower, but we all know how well they communicate these odds when they run lootbox promos like egg hatching events.

The majority of the features Niantic added, like print-at-home decoration, I never bothered to use. And since the shirt was available in one color only, I had no interest in buying it because red is an atrocious color on me. So if Niantic was trying to get some merchandise money, it was a solid pass from me. I would have purchased the shirt had it been available in black or maybe my team's color.

Having attended a couple of these Safari Zones/Go Fests in person, despite the server issues, I felt like it was ok for the price. I missed the special event eggs (2km eggs with a good mix of 10k Pokémon and 5 km starters/favorites) that previous Safari Zone/GoFests had. I'm not super thrilled that the make-up 3 hour window doesn't feature the battle hour but it seems to me that Niantic is trying to milk as much as they can out of shiny Gible.
