Not feeling it so far. The designs look meh except for Fena, and the director inspires no confidence at all. Still really early though, so anything can change at this point. Trailer showed potential at least.

ya this looks really uninspired like most the CR stuff in the last few seasons. Honestly the less involvement CR has in stuff, the better things will be just based on all their "Originals" already. Wasting so much good talent IMO

Did you even read the synopsis? and besides it's drawing, more accurately anime style drawing so race and looks aren't taken into consideration unless it's crucial to the story. And again, go read the synopsis.

A) That's BS. Anime characters are not just some blank default race.
B) If she's chattel, that's crucial to the story.

This is explicitly about the British Empire, not the Barbary Pirates, and the British did not keep white people as chattel slaves. If they said she was an indentured servant, then maybe, though that wouldn't make sense with the rest of the plot. But the synopsis specifically calls her "chattel," and that means something very specific.

Seriously. Fena is like the only character that really, REALLY stands out among the cast of darkly, similar-looking ninja pirates.

I think it looks kind of interesting. I'm not expecting historically accurate drama. So if the pirates look like ninjas, that's cool with me. The director's interview was hilarious though. He sounded like he was speaking to people just learning Japanese so maybe they could follow along without the subs.
